  1. Just finished watching S-1 E-3 on HBO of THE LAST OF US and there’s a brief but meaningful comment about the 2003 Detroit Tigers that I delighted in. It’s the kind of comment that a real insider to the Tigers would make, and it made me feel that the people making this show are my people.
  2. Jobe pitches the third game in Houston, which is a getaway day game on Wednesday and it will be his first game since April 18, a 12-day gap.
  3. So this next road trip of 10 games: three in Houston, four against the Angels and three against the Rockies could be pretty interesting. Houston has reason to have a real grudge against us and they are a team to contend with, and the Angels and Rockies are doing pretty bad. You have to play the games, but I suppose if we go 1 – 2 at Houston, split with the Angels 2–2 and go 2-1 with the Rockies. that would be a 5-5 road trip. Totally acceptable and within the realm of possibility To my mind that would be the worst case scenario, but maybe we don’t have to entertain worst case scenarios.
  4. The Tigers are not only the team with the highest run differential in MLB. They are the only team in the AL Central with a run differential on the positive side and it’s not even close.
  5. At +42 runs the Tigers now have the highest run differential in MLB.
  6. Wow. I suppose I could be accused of “drinking the Kool-Aid,“ but I get the feeling that this club is more than just a collection of individuals but an actual team that is synchronized by a certain attitude and intent that fosters better results than that to which we are accustomed.
  7. I couldn’t follow it. I’m glad he preserved the shut out and since I’m not watching it I have no insight into his interior psychological state.
  8. Kenta Maeda replaces Sean Guenther. It almost feels cruel to watch how this will play out even though I don’t expect the Tigers to lose.
  9. Gleyber Torres doubles (2) on a line drive to left fielder Heston Kjerstad. Javier Báez scores. Justyn-Henry Malloy scores.
  10. Sean Guenther replaces Tarik Skubal.
  11. Oh my heck 5-0! We’re closing in on the sacred number six!
  12. Jung gets it done. 4-0
  13. Did Torres valiantly force the throw to second to let the run score or did he just get greedy?
  14. Now 9Ks after 5.
  15. Skub at a normal pitch count after 4 w/7Ks and no BBs. Nice.
  16. I sure would like to see the guys put up some big numbers on the board in this game.
  17. 6 Ks in 3 frames for Skubal.
  18. 2-0. Thank you Willie Baez.
  19. On the radio, Dan keeps saying that Jung is one of the base runners when it’s Sweeney
  20. Kreemer was pitching like he was afraid of Sweeney.
  21. Tork is now averaging 96 walks in a full season.
  22. Greene has now struck out 36 times in 26 games and he’s probably got another three more at bats in this game.
  23. Rationally, we should win this game. Skubal is bound to be completely dominant eventually so why not now? The Orioles are a team stumbling so what’s to keep them from stumbling one more game?
  24. When Koufax was asked him how much pleasure he got from striking out people and he shrugged and said it was actually more gratifying to make a pitch that produced a weak pop-up or a simple grounder. This is good advice.
