  1. Yes, and I’ve been shut out from postseason viewing for years because I’m a cord cutter. The only reason I can watch it now is that my son-in-law includes me in his YouTube TV subscription that he gets primarily for NBA.
  2. I’m 73 and almost everyone I know is younger than me. And a lot of them can be pretty cool people. It’s not like I think everyone younger is a moron. But it’s getting hard to find anyone who understands my more clever jokes that make a lot of cultural and historical references to things from when I was growing up with the hinge being something like the utterance “plastics” from the film The Graduate. If you have to explain it, it’s not funny. On the rare times when I’m with my old friends from college one word like that can reduce us all to jelly. I miss that kind of connection and rarely ever find it any longer.
  3. This broadcast begins at 11 AM for me, which is perfect because I would just as soon get the celebrating or suffering over with early on.
  4. There is truthiness to this at the very least.
  5. If the Tigers don’t make it to the World Series I would rather see a team like Cleveland or Milwaukee from “flyover” territory beat the big money teams that assemble teams recruited like mercenary armies sent to invade small countries.
  6. I lived in Tucson from 1974 to 1987 and the Indians had spring training there at the time for something like 50 years in a row and I went to a lot of spring training games and I don’t remember ever meeting a single person in the entire city who would self identify as a Cleveland fan. They were basically a profoundly frustrating team that made virtually no impression on the local population, which I don’t think is the case for Lakeland which is, however, a much smaller place.
  7. Whatever they were doing that gave them an inexplicable momentum has been erased.
  8. Standard operating procedure.
  9. Maybe playing the odds with every at bat - which is a make do thing born from expediency - is a scotch tape and paper clip thing that isn’t infinitely sustainable, especially when the guys you really rely upon falter and teams have figured out how to pitch to them. Add to that relievers who are really failed starters also get figured out.
  10. A part of me just wants this season to get over and done with so I can invest my time in worrying about things I can actually affect like the state of the world and the limitations of human mortality. <ducks>
  11. I was really hoping for a three run home run that was 310 feet away from home down the line.
  12. “It is what it is…”
  13. Did he just swing it to pitch 3 feet out of the strike zone? Hell I could do that.
  14. Paddack at over 100 pitches they’re getting what they want from him.
  15. Paddack being himself was bound to happen.
  16. Guardians have loaded the bases in the bottom of the third with no outs they are trailing 4–2
  17. Wish Jake could’ve kept the line moving.
  18. Javy Waevers!
  19. Bojorquez punts 39 yards to DET 35, Center-R.Sunahara. K.Raymond for 65 yards, TOUCHDOWN. DET-J.Saylors was injured during the play.
  20. Yoshida HR
  21. Let’s hope Paddack can be as good as the kid called up from AAA.
  22. He put them down easily.
  23. And it just feels like the guys have had some tremendously bad luck with BABIP.
  24. They need to beat up on this guy brought up from Woostah big time.
