  1. It would be nice if they exploded for a run or two here.
  2. Nine pitches and four outs is pretty sweet. I’m following this game on gameday and in between episodes of scratching myself the inning was over.
  3. A Tigers should have a team hypnotist that convinces Riley and Tork that he’s Magglio and he tells them “let the ball come to you” they believe it, gain confidence, and become better hitters.
  4. That was easy. Three pitches three strikes and an out.
  5. Yesterday I predicted Manning would toss seven innings of no hit ball and 93 pitches so I came close.
  6. Manning is the one who should be dating Taylor Swift. By the way, who walks the plank to bring Manning back into the starting rotation permanently? I’ve been been out of touch with this team for a couple years, so don’t feel bad about explaining it to me as if I were a child.
  7. That’s a great story. My brother-in-law, who became an engineer instead of a class D, Pirates minor-league pitcher was great to watch a game with partly because of his engineer mentality I think. He had a razor sharp interest in the game that was infectious and dragged you into it in an incredibly satisfying manner. I went to six games in the 1980s in Nashua New Hampshire which was the Pirates AA team and I had more fun with him at a game than anyone in my life. He saw Ted Kluszewski in the stands and told me about him and the Pieates won every single game coming from behind as either a walk off or with runs scored in the eighth inning. It was like this little miracle staged for the two of us.
  8. At this rate if it continues, neither of these starters will last long.
  9. No. My brother-in-law grew up as a Pittsburgh fan and rejected a class D contract from the Pirates out of high school in the early 50s because he wanted to go to college become an engineer instead so for his sake I can’t hold anything against the Pirates. I’m not at least bit logical. I’m totally an emotional fan.
  10. If the Tigers have a “natural rival” it’s the Cubs. Especially because the Cubs denied World Series championships to Ty Cobb over 100 years ago and this is something that we should not forget. Myself, I hold a grudge.
  11. I see Pittsburgh is leading their central division in the NL. They’re 5-1. I hope their hot start is more of a fluke than ours ….
  12. The Tigers are the only undefeated MLB team left.
  13. So that’s 2:20 in my time zone in the mountain time zone. That’s 20 minutes from now great.
  14. So is the umpire’s union headed up by a guy with the last name of Soprano? Is that why Angel still has a job?
  15. Like the holy hand grenade, 6 is the number the number shall be 6 regardless of all other factors the number isith 6.
  16. I believe in miracles Where you from You sexy thing (sexy thing, you) I believe in miracles Since you came along You sexy thing
  17. What I like about living in the west is that you feel like you’re driving in a convertible all the time. When I lived in the Midwest, the horizon was a hazy tree line nearby, and the clouds seem to be much lower in the sky for some reason. Out here the sky is so expansive it affects me internally. It’s like living in the Sound of Music.
  18. I don’t like the rain that much. When I was going to Purdue in 1970 our college newspaper, the Exponent, ran an article that Auburn had the lowest precipitation in the entire state, and my feeling was that it rained all the time in Auburn. What I like about where I live in Boise Idaho is that the neighborhoods here remind me of where I grew up in Indiana, but there’s low humidity and there’s mountains on the horizon right outside of town. They give me a sense of dimension and possibility that I never felt living in the Midwest.
