The umpire is awful and gave George Springer a walk when there were two pitches that were obvious strikes that didn’t get called

I guess the Blue Jays do not intend to go gentle into that good night.

I got so caught up in doing other stuff I didn’t realize this is a day game. I think I’ll watch it. I usually get bored after a while if it’s not my team, but who knows.

I totally forgot this Seattle Toronto game was on and I’m amazed the Mariners won the first game. A Seattle Milwaukee World Series would really be a way of rubbing it in the nose of the oligarchs who think only four or five franchisees are worth making it that far. Of course I piss and moan about this because my team is not one of the worthy and I’ll admit that when I see a World Series where something like the Rangers are playing Tampa Bay I’d find myself falling asleep at that prospect so I suppose I am as much a part of the problem is anyone else. But basically, if my own team isn’t in the mix, I could generally care less no matter what.

DETROIT -- The Tigers have extended the contract of manager A.J. Hinch, president of baseball operations Scott Harris confirmed Monday at their season-ending press conference. Terms were not disclosed. “We extended A.J. earlier in the year,” Harris said. “I absolutely love working with A.J. I think he’s one of the best managers in the game. We have now proactively extended him twice because we want him to be here as long as he’s willing to be here, and I want to work with him as long as I can possibly work with him. It was one of the easier conversations I’ve had, because … he wants to be here too, and I think we’re both bullish on our future in this organization, and we’re both proud of what we’ve done in the three years together.” per mlb.com

Right now I’m glad I’m not living and dying by what the Lions are doing and I’m afraid to go in that forum right now because some of the people might need the number of the suicide hotline. So I’m glad to pretty much be exclusively a Tigers fan.

Banana Ball is coming to my fair city of Boise, Idaho, and instead of being in our former Northwest League stadium, it will be on the infamous blue turf of Albertsons Stadium and the Boise State Broncos football team on July 31 and August 1 and you have to enter a lottery and tickets are either $35 or $100 for the “meet and greet.” Whee! They have 75 dates planned for the summer all over the country. I can’t imagine being that far away from the action as very enjoyable but I don’t know how they’ll configure it. When I saw the Harlem Globetrotters in Boise, I had courtside seats and it was spectacular.

Week Six: Detroit Lions (4-1) @ Kansas City Chiefs (2-3)

I had no idea that all the games were fixed, and all the refs were being paid to cheat. I think there should be an investigation into this. -
I am waiting for my winter of discontent to end so I can crawl out of my cave and squint at the sunlight. And winter hasn’t even yet begun!. And it will be a long, long, long, long time, before the dawn.

Sorry to hear about Diane Keaton. Many dear memories of her. I purposely never watched Looking for Mr. Goodbar because I couldn’t stand the idea of what happens to her in the film.

I had absolutely no idea that this happened on a regular basis. Thank you so much for sharing this. @lordstanleyyou rock!

Brewers win. I’m supposing “the media“ will try to make this as a David versus Goliath story but the Brewers have been pretty good so I think they stand a good chance of felling Goliath.

So are they gonna fire hitting coaches or something because they can’t fire the players? Is it customary to wait until after the World Series to do this? I’m not calling for this, but I am honestly curious.

I guess Dan won’t make it into heaven now with Karen but who would want to be there with her anyway? -

He thought he was off mic. It is now one of my favorite baseball memories. -

A part of me likes the Brewers because I don’t feel any particular allegiance to the American League any longer given all the interleague play and I love interleague play. But I don’t care enough to actually watch any games with the Brewers. -

Dan’s off the cuff remark brings me joy. Everyone feels this way. -

I don’t enjoy national broadcasts either. -

I honestly have no skin in the game about what happens after this. Other teams mean nothing to me. I don’t “love the game“ as much as I simply love the Tigers because because they became a part of my fantasy world alter ego when I was eight years old and they made me feel stronger than I really was then and they still do now. When I root for the Tigers, I am actually rooting for that feckless, impish, innocent part of myself that continues to believe that something good can happen in this world and that I can be included in it. That’s not a feeling or sense of identity I can readily or willingly subvert. I think there’s a certain grown-up wisdom involved in this even though it seems kind of childish on the surface. It is what it is. -
Thanks for doing this Lee.

I’m kind of grateful the season is over. A baseball season is like a lifespan with ups and downs, excitement disappointments, victories, and defeats, but when it ends there’s a sort of peacefulness about it and also there’s another one to come. I’m grateful for what they gave us early on and disappointed about the way it ended, but I’m not disappointed about the lifespan of this season itself. It’s generally more excitement than I could generate on my lonesome. -

They also only won 88 games which was eight fewer than the year before and scored, fewer runs. And were swept in the world series. Basically adding him did not appreciably improve the team. -

Congratulations to the American League Champion Toronto Blue Jays, who will fall to whomever the National League champions are in the World Series. -

I find it hard to believe that one bat could’ve made that much of a difference. I remember when the Tigers added Prince Fielder to an already strong lineup and if memory serves me right it was like throwing a quarter cup of water into a full bathtub. It didn’t raise the level much. -
