McDavid choked on that breakaway too. He never ever got a shot off, he just kept handling all the way to the net.

I thought the same thing. Hellebuyck did what he needed to, but McDavid did not get the look he should have.

Feels like the US is just trying to survive the period. No way they keep this 1-0 for another 24 minutes at this pace.

He had a step-step and a half on the defenseman but never even lifted the stick for a shot. Rare mistake by McJesus. And there goes Hellebuyck stopping him again.

Hellebuyck is playing as fantastic as Binnington was in the Four Nations last year. Absolutely phenomenal performance so far today.

The damn finally broke and Canada got a goal in. They've been much more aggressive this period and Hellebuyck had kept us scoreless.

The 19 shots by Team Canada in the 2nd is the most they’ve had in any period of this tournament.

I’m coming to believe a certain kind of character tends to gravitate towards a bar that opens at 7am

i used to get up at 5 or 6 most weekends to watch United play.  back when there were no soccer games on regular tv.  trudge over to the bar with a few englishmen.

now every game is on tv and its a bunch of milennials and gen z "man city and chelsea fans" there.  vibe totally sucks now.  

i remember being there one morning and there were a ton of people in the backroom all drunk at 8 am.  it was six nations pay per view.  packed crowd that day for ireland.  the big rugby games still get crowds at the bars here if its ireland or england (but especially ireland).  being the only francophile there gets lonely.

speaking of which, allez les bleus.

9:30 Sunday beers used to be a regular thing as a Lions fan in California.   Now I’ve gone full on Roger Murtaugh.   Not even a second of thought about finding an open bar this morning.
