The Compher, Copp, and Chiarot signings fueled this ridiculous narrative that the Red Wings pro scouting team was a problem when in reality the free agent market is the free agent market. Teams pay what the market demands. Stevie had to pay what the market demanded, but he has built the system so that there are viable prospects to plug in as these contracts expire.

I agree it’s probably true that the Wings had a 2nd rounder on the table, and I think it is safe to say that this info did not come from Yzerman. I can’t imagine someone who dislikes the press more than him. 😂

But you have this big beautiful talent pipeline Stevie! Now is the time to use it.

Interesting that model gives CBJ and Ottawa a better playoff chance than Boston despite the Bruins being ahead of them by 3 and 6 pts respectively. Hope that means Boston has a tough schedule the rest of the way.
