AlaskanTigersFan Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 I thought we found out that like 90% of the league comes from the first two rounds of draft picks........ If anything trade players+ picks to get future 1st and 2nds.... Just my $0.02. Quote
Shinzaki Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Pronman's 1st mock has us taking C Jack Nesbitt...a 6-4 LH shot with a good two way game. Also mentions LHD Jackson Smith if he's there. Have not seen Nesbitt ranked that highly anywhere else. Quote

Although that may be a bit of a fluke, as from that same draft eight 5th rounders have more than 5 NHL career goals including 3 with over 100. And that 3rd round yielded a couple of starting goalies in Adin Hill and Sam Montembeault. But yeah, below the 2nd round, chances of even a cup of coffee in the NHL are under 50%. Shinzaki Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Other teams started scouting Europe and it became more difficult for the Wings to "discover" guys. Quote

Wings need to start scouting Nepal, Bolivian mountain regions, and North Korea. They're cold and untapped. Think outside the box, Yzerman. Quote

Agreed, it sucks we have guys like Danielson, Lombardi, Mazur, Plante, Cossa and Augustine in our pipeline! 1 Quote
lordstanley Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Rumblings in Vancouver about trading for Larkin. Really just typical blogger stuff without any inside knowledge, just that it "makes sense" to the bloggers because the Canucks need another centre and they think from that one clip about standing pat at the deadline that Larkin wants out of Detroit. slothfacekilla Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Huh seems very random, I thought the Canucks had cap issues but looking at their finances doesn't seem to be the case. 2 minutes ago, buddha said: ok, we'll take quinn hughes. Could be available, in Rutherford's press conference the other day it already sounded like he was resigned to Hughes leaving to play with his brothers in the future! Quote

lordstanley Posted April 29 Posted April 29 So the Wings start 12th and can move up a maximum of 10 spots to #2 overall, correct? Quote

slothfacekilla Posted Tuesday at 09:35 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:35 PM First mock post-lottery I've seen has the Wings taking O'Brien: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3281042 The right-handed center is a crafty playmaker with excellent vision and hands, which helped him lead the OHL with 50 power-play points. He's on the younger side of the class with a June 2007 birthdate, giving him a long developmental runway. He can be overly patient with the puck at times and will need to accelerate some decisions as the level of competition increases, but those are typical junior hockey kinks that can be ironed out. 1984Echoes Posted Tuesday at 10:14 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:14 PM I've also seen Justin Carbonneau suggested at 13, as well Carter Bear, Lynden Lakovic, Malcolm Spence, Kashawn Aitcheson (LHD), and Radim Mrtka (RHD)... There's size or toughness (or both) as well as a lot of offensive skill in there... I like our choices this year... Seems like any of them could fit... Quote
slothfacekilla Posted Tuesday at 10:25 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:25 PM Bear was an intriguing prospect for the Wings pick to me until he lacerated his achilles, will be interesting to see how he recovers from that Quote
