Shinzaki Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Wheeler has us taking Carbonneau at 13 in his mock on the Athletic site. LHD Jackson Smith is also a possibility. If he was there...I'd take Smith Quote
slothfacekilla Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) Intriguing fella for around the Wings' first round pick edit: never mind I didn't realize he was rated so highly around, probably not a chance the Wings can grab him Edited May 23 by slothfacekilla Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) Is there a good but not great 2-way offensive forward, who plays defensively sound hockey, and is projected to have a career trajectory that averages around 35 points a season with 12 goals and 23 assists in this draft? If so, that's our guy. Edited May 24 by Mr.TaterSalad Quote

Mr.TaterSalad Posted May 27 Posted May 27 For the record, I was here trumpeting that I wanted Kasper because I thought he was more than what people were saying about him. 🙂 Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Also for the record Nate Danielson was not my top choice as I wanted someone in the 2023 draft that I thought could deliver more pure scoring punch, given that we had taken Kasper the year before to potentially be a Center. I liked Danielson but I had a couple of players I was hoping we would have drafted ahead of him including Zach Benson, Colby Barlow, or Matthew Wood. We shall see if Danielson ends up being a very good player ala Dylan Larkin or just a nice player in the vein of Andrew Copp 2.0. Quote
Shinzaki Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I think they liked Danielson because he is a RH C with decent size, good skating and some offensive capability. Wood is a good sized wing..but his skating was a huge ?. Benson is skilled,,,but small. Ryan Leonard was another guy that fit what they were apparently looking for , but he went one slot before Danielson Quote
slothfacekilla Posted May 27 Posted May 27 It seems like Benson has turned into a 3rd line grinder/pest type based on his first two seasons but maybe his offense will blossom in the NHL soon? Looks like Wood had a solid NCAA season last year, though Max Plante scored more per game than him as a freshman. Just goes to show it is tough to predict how players will end up! I'm trying to be more patient with prospects myself. Quote

With that kind of size Wang can hang down low and move people off the puck. Quote
1984Echoes Posted Thursday at 09:15 PM Posted Thursday at 09:15 PM This is my draft ranking for the Red Wings: 1st Tier: Porter Martone. Radim Mrtka. 2nd Tier: Justin Carbonneau. If I'm Yzerman... I'm trading up (if needed... but I think "needed" is definite...) to get one of those three guys. Those are the only 3 draftees this year on my Red Wings Radar. IMO, everyone else that I would want in a Wings uniform, is a sharpy lower tier... And I would be extremely dissatisfied in not getting one of those three. I could do a Lakovic or a Bear or... but... meh. So... heavily on my mind is... moving up in this draft, as needed. Not "IF"... "AS". Wherever Yzerman has to go to at least get Carbonneau... Please. IMO. Quote
