That’s the same game Jose Canseco hit a home run into the upper deck bleachers, the only time I recall ever seeing that. Definitely something in the air that day. I’ve often wondered whether I am the guy they show in the bleachers afterwards, with the pencil in his mouth clapping and just looking like he’s thinking an subdued “oh, wow”. It looks like I did back then; I did sit up there most of the time; would have my shirt off on hot days; I kept score all the time; and would frequently place my pencil in my mouth to clap for plays instead of putting it on the ground because ick. Thing is, I don’t recognize anyone around me. I would go alone the games sometimes but not usually. It’ll always be a personal mystery to me. Quote
oblong Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I was at the game the night before, a Friday night. I went to the game with a couple of co workers, both had long hair. One of them looked exactly like Geddy Lee, with blond hair. Even the nose. And he was a fantastic bass player. He was in a band so his outfit fit that demographic from 1990. During BP we were out in LF and Jack Morris was giving us nasty glares, I don't think he liked the looks of Tony. The other guy I was with was just a typical burnout, nothing unique. But Tony looked like he just walked off teh stage. When this HR was hit I was driving down Telegraph right near my street, like a minute from my house, but I was in the left lane. When I heard the call I veered two lanes over and went down a side street to get home so I could see the replay. This was a big series, that game was the highest attended game all year, including Opening Day. I also met my wife the following weekend. Quote
chasfh Posted Friday at 01:03 PM Author Posted Friday at 01:03 PM This is 91 years ago today. Notice anything particularly interesting about this game? I see two things right off the ... ahem .. bat. Quote
1984Echoes Posted Friday at 02:51 PM Posted Friday at 02:51 PM The biggest one is Schoolboy Rowe, pitcher, had a double and a triple in a 5 for 5 day... And we scored more runs 18 than hits 17. 1 Quote
casimir Posted Friday at 03:02 PM Posted Friday at 03:02 PM No home runs hit. Chicks didn't quite dig the long ball just yet. 1 Quote
papalawrence Posted Friday at 03:27 PM Posted Friday at 03:27 PM Look at that line-up! Sure wish I could go back in time and take in a double header. Even with the smell of tobacco ash and urine that I would often permeate Tigers Stadium 1 Quote
