Might not be the Wings' night. 4-2 down to Columbus with 15 minutes to go in the 3rd regulation. First leg of the home and home with culminates in the outdoor game in Columbus on Saturday.

They almost put the outdoor game in Columbus too late in the schedule. The forecast for Friday is 58F and windy - not a good combination for outdoor ice.  But if the forecast holds it's supposed to drop to 32 and cloudy by game time which would be a better game.

Wings seemed flat all night. 5-2 final after an empty net goal.

Everyone has a clunker now and then.   Bet they look a lot different Saturday. 

 

Anyway,  Trade deadline is a week away and every year we hope for a splash but it never happens.   I doubt this year will be different, but this goaltending - I just don't think it's good enough to get you to the next level.

St. Louis' Binnington might be available. I was on him hard all throughout the 4 Nations, as was much of Canada, but he was amazing during OT.

Michigan hockey has been really good at producing NHL players. Sean McDonaugh mentioned 8 Michigan alumni on the ice for tonight's game between the two teams.

Two Columbus goals 32 seconds late in the 2nd period and it's 3-1 Jackets after 2. Wings need to respond, can't lose back to  back games in regulation to a team you're battling in the standings.

A minute after the Wings tie it, the Jackets regain lead on a disputed goal. Under 2 minutes to go.

I would have done this deal. Jones at $7mm is fine.

Wings irate, justifiably so IMO, that a penalty wasn't called on the winning goal.

Augustine and a 1st (Wings will pick higher than Florida) would have been enough and, yes, I'd do that.
