A lot of talk about possible Ivey/Duren extensions.

One interesting idea they kicked around.  Sign and trade with Dallas.  Schroder for PJ Washington.  I worry about Washington's health a bit.  But for what they would be giving up and the size of his contract, I look past it.

What about trying to get a guy that the Pistons were rumored to be going after a couple of summers ago in Cam Johnson? Johnson plays the wing which we need. He has the size we need at the wing position being 6-8. Most importantly, he can hit the three ball. The Brooklyn Nets suck, so would they be willing to trade him for one of our young pieces and a pick or two? Would he be available for a trade and what would he realistically cost?

One big reason to avoid Johnson.  His amount of games played since entering the league.

Exactly. Same reason I didn't want to go after him back when he was a free agent.

And based upon what Trajan has said and done so far, it seems that he values availability too much to go after a guy like this as well.

Glad to hear he thinks that way.  Doesn't matter how good you are if you are in street clothes on the bench.

Being one of the few teams capable of getting cap space means every player/agent on earth is going to mention Detroit.

I keep hearing that outside of the mid-level (14M) or lesser exceptions, the Nets are the only other team that will have cap space.

Explore path #3.

If they can replace him with Nickeil Alexander-Walker, I'm cool with letting him walk. We need 2-way players.

If NAW isn't happening, I'm ok resigning Beasley. He won't get more than the 14M mid-level (only the Nets can do that) and if the money's even there's no reason for him to choose somewhere else when he's fit in so well here. That amount is fine for him. He provides movement shooting and a better 3P% than anyone else on the roster. He failed in the playoffs, but the failure was also on a roster that required a role player to carry the offense far too much to be sustainable when the other team is strategizing against your limited options.

would you trade jaden ivey and two firsts for derrick white?

No.  If I'm not moving Ivey in a deal for a star, I'm not moving him.

Maybe if White was 27 and not 31.

It's tempting to get a 2-way player, but maybe a bit of an overpay in my eyes. Ivey will never be the defensive player White is, but he may already be a better offensive player with far more potential in the future. And as Del said, White's on the wrong side of 30 and now you've used your best trade asset to get non-Star Guard when what you really need is an All-Star at one of the Forward spots to pair with Cade.

Some second apron punishment I just read about.

If you are in the second apron, you are not allowed to trade future draft picks.  Normally, you can trade future picks 7 years ahead.

If you are a 2nd apron team in 3 of the previous 5 seasons, you draft 30th no matter what your record is.  So if you really go for it and are 2nd apron years 1,2,3 and then your team implodes, and you start a rebuild, you draft 30th in years 4.5 no matter what your record is.

Cade's full season shot numbers.

35.6% from three isn't so horrible when you realize Cade only took 21 corner 3 attempts.  That is the problem with handling the ball 95% of the time you are on the court.  He doesn't get those easier corner attempts to boost his shooting percent.

I played double dribble non stop as a kid and I never knew about the glitch until seeing the Family Guy episode.

I was only 7 or 8 when I was most into it though, was it really a well known thing like say the Konami or Mike Tysons punchout code?

On the Atari 2600 we had a baseball game from....I think ...Mattel.  on a ground ball hit to third, throws across the diamond were so slow the batter would beat them out every time.  If you threw to second and then onto 1st, you'd get them out every time.

Knowing the glitches is a part of home field advantage

A few bigs I’m looking at.  Some as the third big some as a Duren replacement in a trade.

Day'Ron Sharpe – Mobile big with a very limited offensive game who offers no spacing.  I did some digging and his first few years they had him playing drop coverage, and he sucked at it.  They changed him to a more perimeter-based defense, doubling the PnR ball handler, hedging, etc.  and he thrived.  Big guy, 6’11” 260 pounds but moves very well and has quick hands.  He could get expensive, possibly $8 million plus.

Guerschon Yabusele – Defined as a mobile big on defense and floor spacer on offense.  An older player, he will turn 30 in December.  Played a few years in his early 20s then went back to Europe for 5 or 6 years.  Came back last year and played well.  Shot 38% from three on 4 attempts per game.  Can play both C and PF.  Again, he will be expensive, probably the full MLE ($14 million).

Tristan Vukcevic – Third big candidate.  He hasn’t even played 50 games yet.  But in the 35 he played last year he shot 37% from three and he just turned 22 in March.  I feel your third big should always be a young guy you are developing.  And stretch bigs continue to be more and more important.  He would be very cheap.

Bobby Portis – Just adding him because everyone has him on their list.  Not real sure where he plays unless a center or Harris is being moved.  I would guess around the full MLE for him as well.

Andre Drummond – Stop.  Just stop.

Brook Lopez – Maybe on a very cheap 1-year deal.  Other than that, not really interested.

Myles Turner – Of course.  But the path to having the money isn’t very realistic.

Santi Aldama - Pretty good player, but seems a bit soft to me.  Stretch big though.  Doesn't matter, since I think Memphis matches most sane offers.  You would have to be around $20 million per before they don't match.
