i wouldnt sell the farm for miller, but it would be a move for a player who is on the same seider/raymond trajectory.  much different than andersson or any of the big free agents.

Wait, isn't Marchand like 37? Is he really going to play until he's 43? Crazy to think he signed a 6 year deal though. I guess he wants to be the new Jarmir Jagr.

Yeah, length doesn’t make sense. But I suspect their capoligist factored in a future buyout to make the math work, win now, take the cap hit into the future when their window has finally  closed.

I want nothing to do with Ryan Lindgren I would be pretty upset if they gave him a significant amount of money

that would be another compher/copp deal.  a player just to fill a spot.

The benchmarks for those bonuses are:

$2.5 million for 10 games played

$250,000 for 30 games played

$250,000 for 50 games played

$500,000 for reaching the playoffs

$250,000 for a round 1 win

$250,000 for a round 2 win

If Kane plays at least 50 games, the deal will pay him $6 million, with another $1 million in bonuses tied to the team’s success.

No thanks on Lindgren because I feel like he'll be overpaid by a couple mil a season giveth his age. There is no production there from an offensive standpoint and he's not some amazing defensive defenseman. It sounds like the PK was one of his strengths but he took a step back last season.

I read reading this hockey analytics blog on Lindgren and here are some stats that stood out

"According to PuckIQ, Lindgren was a +22, 48.5% for Corsi F% (shot attempts), 45.4% HDCF% (slot chances). Last season, he had 129 shifts in the defensive zone, was a +29, 54% for CF%, and 54.3% for HDCF%.

Lindgren’s other contribution historically has been the penalty kill. This season he logged 200+ mins. However, the Rangers were better at limiting chances on the penalty kill when he was on the bench."

If we did trade for one of K'Andre Miller or Rasmus Andersson, what type of deal do you think we'd resign them too? Yzerman hasn't killed giving out long terms to players that he draft. I would imagine both would want a longer term, unless they are out to test the free agent market in a few years after the cap goes up. At which point, are they worth trading for if they'd only sign a 2-3 year deal.

i imagine andersson would want what dobson got.  or something close to it.  8x9?

miller has been less good but is younger.  8x8.5?

provorov really screwed up the market.

i would be ok with gavrikov.  not really interested in boeser or ehlers.  not for the money/term theyre going to get.

trading for miller is intriguing.  depends on the price, of course.  would have loved to have dobson but not for multiple first round picks.

With all the noise about Garikov wanting to go to New York and him turning down the Kings' offers I would be shocked if he wasn't a Ranger at noon

edit: I'm not the only one to see the obvious I guess lol

The Athletic keeps floating that the Wings had something big in mind for this offseason which seems like a lofty claim, but the only thing that makes sense to me for that is trading for Miller after Garikov signs but I will expect nothing so I'm not disappointed.
