Who would you rather put in there?  The Tigers need innings today.  They need to see if Montero is salvageable.  They need to manage rest for the other relievers.

Bullpen may be bad but Hinch still has to get back to having a quicker hook. You can't wish guys who can only go 4 into guys who can do more.

Rebuilding a pitching staff in August rarely works. Especially with other teams rejects.

So the rotation is basically Skubal and 4 days of Keider Montero (in the sense that you have no idea what you are going to get).
