I've seen all sorts of wild and out there comparisons for Danielson. I remember on draft night, one of the ESPN analysts was comparing him to Nick Suzuki. If he was Nick Suzuki I would be over the moon to have him reach that level production wise. I've also seen people compare Danielson to everything from Bo Horvat to Dylan Larkin. Danielson has never shown the kind of production in juniors or thus far the AHL that Nick Suzuki had. I don't think he ends up as a Suzuki level player, but who really knows. Outside of his one season of 78 points in the WHL with the Wheat Kings, he hasn't quite hit Horvat's level of production either. My concern is that he caps out as being a grittier, more physical JT Compher tye of player. Production wise, I do worry he ends up with Compher like numbers. Good, but not the type of great point producer we want leading the top line into the future. I'd certainly like more than that from Danielson, so I hope his ceiling is higher than Compher's as been. buddha Posted September 9 Posted September 9 danielson is considerably taller than suzuki, horvat or compher. that's a plus for him. he was over a point per game player in juniors and did really well once he got to portland and away from the wheat kings. he's a center, so distribution will be his game. i thought he was on track last year but he plateaued a bit. he didnt show well in the playoffs but none of them did. people point to kasper's point totals in his final year and say how danielson was the same, but kasper waa coming off an injury and finished on a high note and played great in the playoffs. danielson did not. that's wjy he probably plays in the ahl this year until someone gets hurt. danielson looks like a defensive center with some playmaking chops. put him with a skilled winger and let him do his thing. i think he'll play well in the nhl, maybe better than the ahl. 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 9 Author Posted September 9 I think Danielson's style of game will mean he ends up being "better" in the NHL with higher quality teammates. He's a smart player who carries the puck well so I have high hopes for his impact on the Wings whenever he comes up. He may not be putting up gaudy AHL numbers but I think it is a good sign that he's basically doing everything for them as their 1C already. 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 10 Author Posted September 10 It's only the MHL but he seems to be doing a little bit of everything in that highlight package. I'm interested to see how he develops. Quote
buddha Posted September 11 Posted September 11 the more i read pronman's stuff the less i think he knows. you cant possibly follow that many prospects in that many leagues and have any real idea how they are playing PLUS follow nhlers? nhl teams have multiple scouts for multiple levels, pronman is supposed to make us believe he follows all the major junior hockey leagues, the european leagues, the russian leagues, the ahl, and the nhl? gtfo. take his stuff with a mighty grain of salt. 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 That's kind of where I'm at with most prospect people honestly. It isn't a knock on them, it is just almost impossible to stay on top of every player by yourself. But it sure is fun to discuss prospects! I've just turned into a more wait and see mode over the last couple of years instead of taking everything online as gospel. 1 Quote
Shinzaki Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Cross Hanas is going to camp with the Dallas Stars. He was drafted 55th overall in 2020 and never really panned out in Grand Rapids. SY had three 2nd rpund picks that year (Wallinder, Hanas and Theodor Niederbach) and none of them have come close to playing in the NHL...although Wallinder may at some point in the near future Quote
lordstanley Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) Pronman redrafts the 2021 draft. Puts Edvinsson 11th (drafted 6th), Cossa 21st (drafted 15th), and Buium 40th (drafted 36th). Guys he put ahead of Edvinsson who had been drafted lower are Dylan Guenther, Wyatt Johnston, William Elkund, Matthew Knies and Logan Stankoven. Still has Cossa at the top goalie, with Wallstedt next at 35th. Luke Hughes is ranked #1 overall followed by Guenther, Johnston, Mason McTavish and Matty Beniers. Original #1 pick Owen Power is at #7. https://share.google/uTce4uyK7q1eEZ9x1 Edited September 11 by lordstanley Quote
lordstanley Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) Pronman redrafts the 2022 draft. Kasper stays at 8th. Guys Pronman puts ahead of Kasper who had been drafted lower are Lane Hutson, Frank Nazar, Connor Geekie and Jimmie Snuggerud. On the other hand, guys he puts below Kasper who had been drafted higher are Cutter Gauthier, Simon Nemec, and Kevin Korchinski. He keeps Slafkosky at #1 overall. Pronman puts Anton Johansson at 49th (drafted 105th) and Dmitri Buchelnikov 71st (drafted 52nd) and Amadeus Lombardi at 79th (drafted 113th) https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6592365/2025/09/10/nhl-redraft-2022-slafkovsky-cooley-wright-2/ Edited September 11 by lordstanley Quote
lordstanley Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Pronman redrafts the 2023 draft. Too soon? Danielson up to 7th from 9th, ASP up to 10th from 17th, Augustine at 54th from 41st, and Finnie (!) at 69th from 201st. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6592359/2025/09/09/nhl-redraft-2023-bedard-carlsson-fantilli/ Quote

slothfacekilla Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 Did Pronman run out of ideas for articles or something? It seems odd to do all of these redrafts so close to each other. I'm right with buddha on Hutson so far, starting him in the offensive zone 72% of the time last season was some insane sheltering. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted Sunday at 03:56 PM Author Posted Sunday at 03:56 PM Seems like the Wings outclassed Dallas Fantastic shot by Buium MNB...nice play at the line to distribute the puck, blows up a guy trying to hit him, goes and scores off a deflected pass that he adjusts beautifully to Seems like ASP is destined to play the top of the PP for the Wings so nice to see a shot get in from there Longer AnJo highlights Quote
