sagnam Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Wonder if our organization’s goal is to win the AHL and we just never noticed. https://www.nhl.com/redwings/news/red-wings-acquire-michael-milne-and-wojciech-stachowiak-from-tampa-bay-lightning-in-exchange-for-ian-mitchell 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted March 13 Posted March 13 They're just trying to fill their AHL roster with all the call ups and injuries. They also signed a bunch of guys to tryout deals too. Quote
buddha Posted March 13 Posted March 13 This really has been the most depressing season in a long time. once again they were right there. once again injuries caught them at the wrong time. only this team they dealt their first round pick. you know what that means....welcome to st louis gavin mckenna! 1984Echoes Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 He's under contract for next season too... So... Incomplete. But definitely ASP needed to go down to GR. And the Wings needed Faulk to absorb 2nd pairing minutes because of that. Although I've read that he & Chiarot are NOT a match made in heaven... to me that means Chiarot needs to be pushed down to 3rd pair... except who's going to push him down...? ALJO? Nope. Back to Faulk... If they would only bring up Buium or Wallinder... I think he'd be the perfect mentor/ fit for a young LH'ed D'man just breaking into the NHL... I REALLY want to see a 2nd pair next year of Buium and Faulk... I'll let you know how I REALLY feel about the trade for Faulk by next year's trade deadline... I think he was a good add... although it did cost that 1st round pick... Just my 2 cents. Quote

Jason_R Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Since the Canadian teams don’t seem to like the American Olympic hockey players, what do we think about a trade for Brady Tkachuk? He has one more year on his contract for a little over $8 million. He would bring an abrasiveness to the team that we haven’t had in a long time not to mention being a top line scorer. Quote

The Leafs traded their 2026 #1 last year at the deadline but it's top 5 protected. The Leafs finally fell into the NHL bottom 5 tonight. If the Leafs win the lottery and get to pick Gavin McKenna ... I agree it is unlikely. But they traded DeBrincat to us. They traded Perron to us. Sure, different situations, but every situation is a different situation. If Ottawa doesn't think they can re-sign Tkachuk or doesn't want to re-sign him because he's American, he's exactly the kind of player Yzerman should be in on, especially if Yzerman does not intend to trade Larkin. Larkin needs someone to do the dirty work on the ice and in the locker room. Quote

lordstanley Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I'm very reluctant to re-post Jeff Moss of all people but, this one time, he makes a reasonable point. 1 Quote

Yes, something is wrong with the culture. I don’t know what it is but the front office seems to function too much as a museum of the Red Wings dynasty. Ironically, short of a complete obliteration of the front office, Stevie is the only one who has a hope of managing this dynamic. I feel like he needs to bring in a hockey lifer from outside the franchise who can do the dirty work of holding some of the former Wings accountable. I wonder what Keith Tkachuk is up to these days. 😂 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted 5 minutes ago Posted 5 minutes ago It's just not that complicated. In a capped league there are only so many avenues to get better - lopsided trades, drafts, and better development. Unless your FO can outperform other FOs at those tasks, you will never put a better team in the ice than your competition. So to say that this FO "did as well as.." is useless. They have to do *better* than the other guy, otherwise you just stay where you are. So not many second rounders make it? That's a loser's take, if you are going to win *you* need to be the guy that finds the 2nd rounders that do. That may sound harsh but that's the reality of pro sports, it's not a forgiving business. SY often bemoans the fact that it's hard to better - so the 1st step is finding people who can do what's hard. What sports organization goes 10+yrs under performing its competition without any personnel changes being made? We are basically waiting for the blind squirrel to stumble into a nut somewhere with this org (OK they did once with Moritz so they've already burned one allotment of luck). If they want a different result, it's time to have different people driving the result, or maybe turn it over the ClaudeGPT. Quote
