Yes they should have traded for backups based on anticipated injuries.

It's a loophole. Since Washington committed a penalty and the kickoff was at the 50, the penalty for kicking out of bounds puts the ball at the 25 instead of the 40.

Am I understanding this kickoff rule? Kick out of bounds, the ball is spotted on the 25 yard line. Out of the end zone puts it at the 35? Just kick it our of bounds every time.
