PS: What is Wallinder's window, in your opinion? Can you describe it please (I'm just trying to get at what you're thinking on this... not trying to be an ass...)?

Meaning, how much time does he have before Yzerman tosses him out of our system?

wallinder either makes the team next year or goes back to sweden/cements himself as an AHL player.

he's 23.  he'll be 24 when the season starts next year.  that's make or break time.

I hope it's "light bulb" time.

When he figures out that he REALLY DOES have to increase strength & toughness.

It's also why I'd like him to get 10 NHL games this year, however/whenever that happens. I want him to know how far he needs to get to, to compete in the NHL... so that the light bulb may actually, indeed, get turned on.

If he goes back to hiding in Sweden instead...

Well...

That would be disappointing.

i think he will see some time this year due to injuries but not if buium is healthy and ready.

Petry is currently holding down 14 and a half minutes per night on the Panthers, so it isn't like the Wings are the only team with these "issues"

And on pace for roughly 18-20 assists (no goals so far) / points and a -10 for the year. Seems about right for him...

That wouldn't bother me, on either count (waiting for an injury... or getting usurped by Buium...).

Part of me hopes that some of the scratching is to keep him from getting hurt so he'll be included in some trade (cmon some dumb gm has to see a tall first round pick reclamation project) but it probably is just that he sucks at the nhl level.

just looking at his numbers I hadn't realized how much he dropped off last season from not being all the productive to begin with. 20 pt and a 1:1 G/A ratio is pretty terrible for a center - though granted he doesn't always play center and with that low an assist number he shouldn't.

He has the best face off percentage on the team, surely another team can fix him!

this team is really frustrating.

tough to be without edvinsson.

watching asp play defense can be painful.  just a rookie, so we should expect that.

The Wings front office is notoriously tight lipped but we've still been hearing plenty of rumors that they're poking around in the trade market, I think he's trying.  Outside of a couple teams, the standings are fairly tight so there might not be too many selling teams at this point of the season.  Something needs to happen somehow though.  At a minimum I would have said call up Lombardi but he got hurt.  Maybe call up Cossa just to see him but maybe you don't want him behind this defense right now.

I turned last night's game off pretty early on, with the way they were playing it didn't seem like they had a chance to win.  The Wings really needed ASP to keep his hot start going (and for Edvinsson to be alive) if they wanted this group to look half-way solid every night.  Crappy teams like the Predators look like worldbeaters on offense against them.  But hey I had fun playing Arc Raiders last night, so that's cool.
