Zach Lowe taking about the Markkenan price on his latest podcast.

He said Harris, Ivey, Holland, four first round picks and four first round pick swaps.

Why not throw in LCA, Lake Michigan and the Upper Peninsula as well

I think most people expect that Harris, Ivey, and Holland would be the floor for a "Star" trade. Add in a first or two depending upon which star we're talking about and you have the framework for a deal.

They get salary relief (Harris), 2 young prospects (Ivey and Holland), and couple picks. Makes sense.

But this package is too much even for JJJ, so I certainly wouldn't pay that for Markannen.

this is what they got for donovan mitchell:

Traded by the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Ochai Agbaji, Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, a 2025 1st round draft pick (Liam McNeeley was later selected), a 2026 1st round draft pick, a 2027 1st round draft pick, a 2028 1st round draft pick and a 2029 1st round draft pick. Cleveland also received a trade exception 2025 1st-rd pick is CLE own 2026 1st-rd pick is a right to swap 2027 1st-rd pick is CLE own 2028 1st-rd pick is a right to swap 2029 1st-rd pick is CLE own

2 young players and 5 first rounders.

markannen is 3 years older than mitchell, so i wouldnt expect them to get that much for him.  plus his injury history.

but utah holds all the cards if someone else wants to match their offer.

If Langdon can pull off this trade, at a lesser cost...

I give him kudos.

How much lesser? I don't know exactly, but if it were (3) 1st rounders, (1) 1st round pick swap, and a few 2nd rounders... is that good? Can we get him at an even lesser cost than what I lowered it to...?

PS: Can we also give them Sasser, as well? Just for ****s and giggles?

Or Sasser to Utah and we get Walter Clayton as part of the deal?

Clayton is a bit more PG'y than Sasser...

Well, it was 3 FRP's outright and the right to swap on 2 more.  But Markkanen and Sexton were way better at the time of the trade than Ivey/Holland are now.  But Mitchell at the time was a better player than Markkanen is now, and without the injury history.

It isn't even necessarily about a better offer.  Markkenan has this year and 3 more on his contract.  He has never even hinted at wanting out, and has said he believes in what Utah is doing, suggesting he wants to stay.  There is no reason to move him, other than he might win them too many games and cause them their 1st round pick this summer (protected 1-8).  I think you would have to really wow Ainge with an offer to get him, and that offer Lowe laid out isn't a wow type offer IMO.

Of course, Detroit should never trade for Markkenan to begin with.  But that is another post.
