I like Buzellis, but I would be pretty depressed as a Bucks fan if that is the return for Giannis.

A trade isn't the only route to improving the team.  Could always sign Killian Hayes from the Cavs G-League team.

However, there's a blurb that is perfect for the Pistons (notice how if we replaced "Doncic" with "Cade Cunningham"... that it works out exactly the same for what is needed on the Pistons to maximize Cade... We're still short a couple 3&D wings and a stretch-PF or stretch-5; and we're missing that one guy who can secondary ball-handle/shot-create to support Cade...) :

 

On the other side of the deal, the Lakers continue to be a work in progress. The irony of the Doncic trade is that over the couple of years preceding it, Dallas had done an excellent job surrounding him with exactly the sort of talent required to maximize his skills: a pair of rim-running, shot-blocking centers; 3-and-D guards and forwards to play defense and hit 3s around him; and another high-level shot creator to take pressure off him when he's on the court while running the team when he's not.

IDK, if a guy can shoot but isn't an athlete, can he ever become one? Nope.  If a guy is an athlete and is still only 19, might he develop a shot? Well...maaaaybe. It almost never works out but I think that's the logic behind the popularity of that kind of pick.

Also...

Not EVERY player on a roster, from top-to-bottom, can be a perfect 3&D NBA player.

It's just NOT reasonable to expect or demand that.

I would imagine Milwaukee would look to move Herro after that deal.  Another good offense bad defense guy.  Can shoot and has a little ability to create for others.  He makes $33 million a year which is cheap, but is a free agent the summer of 2027.

Herro is a Wisconsin native.  They may try to keep him around as a centerpiece to try and fleece the fans into believing there’s a reason to show up at games.

If I had a choice...

I still prefer Davion Mitchell over Herro. I know he's short, but I like his better range/ ball-handling/ playmaking as much more of a fit for the Pistons (plus at a much lower cost).

IMO.

(PS: on the assumption Trajan can squeeze in there somehow...)

They are not trading Mitchell.  He would be considered part of the core if they landed Giannis.

That would be their starting lineup.  Unless they are forced to include Wiggins in the Giannis trade.  Jakučionis isn't good enough to move Mitchell.

That doesn't make sense to me.  Why would LAC give up picks?  Harden has a player option next season, and Garland has another two years on his deal.  Both make roughly the same per year.  

I could understand giving up the picks if Harden had a more expensive/longer contract.  But he doesn't.

I read James Harden's name on the trade block.    I read the Cavs might get him.   Go ahead.   He's got all of these individual awards and scoring titles, but the one thing he does not have is a ring - because he's so one-sided.    He doesn't even TRY to play defense.     

The thing about the Pistons is that the whole team plays intense defense.   Nobody really takes time off from it.    Harden would be a terrible fit here, but I'm not sure he would be great for Cleveland either.      

James Harden is like junk food.  Empty Calories.
