Apart from the injury callups, they still have too many place holders - Rasmussen, Copp would be a good 3rd or 4th line center but you need more than 9 goals from your #2 center. Kasper makes his presence felt on the ice in some ways, but he's not contributing enough to putting pucks in the net. Kane still makes the occasional 'only Kane can do that' play, but in general is no longer a dominant presence on the ice at all. van Riemsdyk seems to have faded away. They basically have Larkin, Cat and Raymond as forwards who make you notice when they are on the ice - that's about it. But even more than a 'star', they need three more guys at least at a Copp level. Maybe Danielson Kasper, and MBN will get there but it would be nice if they would hurry. Yes, I was saying that to a friend yesterday. The Wings picked Larkin #16 overall. The Wings picked Kasper #8, Danielson at #9, MBN at #15 and Bear at #13. The success of the rebuild is dependent upon one of those four turning out as well as Larkin and another of four turning out as well as a Mantha/Bertuzzi/Nyquist. If instead they end up like Svechnivkov (#19), Cholowski (#20), Rasmussen (#9), Zadina (#6) then we are doomed. Given that Yzerman hit on 3 straight - Seider #6, Raymond #4, Edvinsson #6 - I am cautiously optimistic, but those all were higher picks. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago MBN got sent down so I imagine Larkin is back tonight Quote

I think someone has to tell Kasper he is better than he thinks he is. Guy seems to have a lot of tools but aside from being a strong checker he's playing to much of a "don't make mistakes game" instead of a 'lets win the game' game. I guess you might say the same about Ras, but Kasper is already stronger on his skates and plays a more physical game than Ras ever has. In fact maybe they need to tell Marco "we don't need you to lead the team in hits, make more plays." Quote
buddha Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago kasper has been a massive disappointment. danielson too, to a lesser degree. those guys are both top ten picks and they havent come close to the impact of seider/raymond/edvinsson. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Beautiful pass by Raymond to make it 1-0 on the PP edit: oop offsides challenge? Edited 12 hours ago by slothfacekilla Quote

lordstanley Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago This is like much of the Montreal game and like the Boston game. The Wings surge as the better team, but can't finish. 1-0 Sens eight minutes into the 2nd. Quote
lordstanley Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago 2-0 Ottawa. To add the insult to injury, I only get the Sens tv feed and every time they score the PBP lady gives a high-pitched goal call. 3-0! Quote

Got 4 in the first 2 games but looking like 0 in the next 2 games. Keep in mind, Sanderson and Chabot are out of the lineup for the Senators. Quote
Jason_R Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Yeah if they get run out of their own rink by a team with all these injuries, they’re done. Quote
lordstanley Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Wings' next game is at Buffalo on Friday, so if they don't come back tonight they might be stuck on 84 points until at last Saturday. Who knows how far they could be by then. Quote
lordstanley Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Captain comes back, cues the comeback? 3-2. Quote
lordstanley Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Pass it or shoot it, Kasper, but do something when in like that. Quote
lordstanley Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago The Wings haven't threatened as much as I hoped and expected in the 8 minutes since the 3-2 goal. Quote
lordstanley Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Wings PP with 6 minutes to go. This is the chance. Quote
lordstanley Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago Loss. Wings are on the ropes now. Sens pass the Isles AND the Wings. Quote
Jason_R Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Disappointing. Another game they get a goal disallowed by inches. Multiple posts. Some great chances turned away. Some questionable calls. But they just aren’t that difficult to play against. They aren’t abrasive. Quote
Shinzaki Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago This team always disappoints...Short of a change at the top and a complete reset...not sure what the answer is Quote

Right, and they shouldn't have two of their few offensive threats DeBrincat and Larkin taking the physicality into their own hands too late and taking themselves off the ice with penalties when needing a goal with 8 seconds too late.
