Edman85 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Ethan is a lot more accurate than Spotrac (which is not reliable at all) and closer than Cots (although Cots has gotten better at back of roster estimations) https://x.com/i/status/2047692416472297586 Quote

Apparently he has that much money that he can convince the Tigers to sell him for cash. He does have the money.... I bet if he offered $500 million, the Tigers would trade McGonigle for "Cash Considerations" lol. Quote

Well, my thought was this. Mets, you better act fast if you want him because Philly will fire their guy and take him. I would take that rumor very seriously. I don't know if Thomson gets fired at this moment if Cora hadn't become available. I think the Phillies may have already hired Cora before they fired him. Quote
Tenacious D Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago So, AJ Hinch to the Phillies? Probably deserves it’s own thread. 1 Quote
casimir Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Has a manager been fired in season and then hired to be manager elsewhere in the same season? Quote

This is a better team and a better job at this point in time. He'd be crazy to leave for that job On 4/26/2026 at 5:48 PM, Edman85 said: You joke, but that's the only way this could actually happen. Lou Piniella (Mariners to Rays) and John Farrell (Blue Jays to Red Sox) come to mind. I don't think any of us know if there's an opt out in his contract or not. I'm absolutely positive he's staying here but sometimes there are opt outs written in contracts. Aren't there? Quote

Billy Martin was hired by Texas after Detroit fired him, in season. And in 1975, when Texas fired him, he took over the Yankees. Lol Jeez...reading about Billy. So interesting. One of the times he got fired from the Yankees, he was replaced by Bob Lemon, who had just been fired by the WSox. They don't make them like Billy Martin anymore... That Mickey Mantle story was a classic. 1 Quote
chasfh Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Buddy Bell did it in 2005, and the Tiger were not either team. He managed the Indians for one game against the A's when Eric Wedge was excused for a "significant personal family issue". Reference doesn't count it, but Retrosheet and Lahman do. Buddy went to the Royals later that year. Tony La Russa managed the White Sox for a couple of months in 1986 and then took over the A’s for the last couple of months. Quote
