I like your idea. I'm wondering if the first trades with the reds is close. I think we'd have to add more though.... But great ideas there for sure. Quote

chasfh Posted July 17 Posted July 17 1 hour ago, NorthWoods said: I love De La Cruz.......but Ranier & Clark? Can't we sneak Javy in there instead? There is nothing in it for the Reds to sell off their future by gifting any team Sal Stewart or Elly de la Cruz. That makes sense only to someone with a sixth-grader's understanding of trade dynamics. If I had to guess, they would make Eugenio Suarez, Nathaniel Lowe, Tyler Stephenson, Brock Burke, Caleb Ferguson, Pierce Johnson, or Brady Singer available. None of those guys are part of the Reds' future. As for the others: Carter Jensen is an everyday catcher. We already have one of those. Plus he is bat first/glove second. Sure don't need one of those. Luke Weaver and Brooks Raley? Now you have my attention. Especially Weaver. But no way do the Mets take our biggest bullpen problem plus a couple of mopes for even one of them, let alone both. Quote

CMRivdogs Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Just for grins I ran it thru OOTP-GO. Traded Skubal to the Guardians in exchange for Tanner Bibbi, Gavin Williams and Slade Cecconi. Not crazy about trading within the devision but getting 2 serviceable starters and a bullpen arm. OOTP's AI was not offering much of anything in the way of prospects. No one else was willing to offer up anything as well. Quote

It's in the title. We're just goofing off in here. But if you want to take this seriously and call me a 6th grader... I can respond in kind if this is the path you want to take. PS: Bryce Rainer, Cris Rodriguez, and Max Clark are futures players. Tork is simply a stop gap that we will need to require moving because we're up against the tax. Does it make sense for them...? Absolutely not. But... We're just goofing off in here. Quote

papalawrence Posted July 19 Posted July 19 (edited) Tarik Skubal straight up for Mason Miller. I doubt SD would do it, but I would entertain it if I were Harris. Then try to retain Mize and hope most of Melton, Jobe, Mize and eventually Olson remain healthy going forward. And it addresses their biggest need for the remainder of 2026 Edited July 19 by papalawrence Quote

I don't think SD would do it, but they do have other good arms in the pen. They need bats though. Their owner does like to make a splash. Quote

And it addresses their biggest need for the remainder of 2026 Padres are looking to cut payroll. They would not take on two months of Skubal and his salary for cost-controlled Miller, especially after they unloaded their prospects to get him. Maybe adding Carpenter and Tatis might make it more palatable. Quote
AlaskanTigersFan Posted July 23 Author Posted July 23 Sticking to this thread..... Luis Robert is garnering trade interest. If we do end up going for it, what about a Max Anderson for Robert type deal? Who says no there? Quote

Tigermojo Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Clark might be the biggest add the Tigers make this year. Quote
