romad1 Posted July 10 Posted July 10 This was pretty good Count Binface is amazing. I love the platform. - Nationalize the model railroad industry - Nationalize Adele - move the hand dryer in a mensroom in a pub in Oxford to a more suitable location - Build one affordable house - rename London Bridge the Phoebe Waller Bridge Quote

So the other aspect of this which is a little more subtle, is that as Russian refinery capacity - which was very large - is destroyed, it puts world refinery capacity and crude oil production out of balance. So even if oil flow through Hormuz returns to normal, refinery capacity will become the world market constraint. Russia will be importing gasoline instead of exporting it. That will allow all refiners higher margins and mean that gas prices at the pump will lag any falling price of crude by even more than they usually do. (gasoline prices already being known as a product whose price rises with the price of crude like a rocket, but falls with the price of crude like a feather) Quote

I also take that to mean he's genuinely as doofus as he comes off. The higher up you go, the more ammunition you need to stave off your enemies' attacks. It's why I plateaued at middle management: I was never good at that kind of thing, and didn't have the stomach for it anyway. 1 Quote

My one skill developed in my late 50s was learning when to pick a fight and when people just need to be ignored. I still am not at anything but apprentice skill level on this. The real ones can do exactly what you describe have ammo and use it on the fly. Its not always a skill distributed to good and honest people. Quote

Thanks, mom and dad. 😉 1 Quote

1984Echoes Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Russia (Vladimir Putin) is already sending "dirty bombs" into Ukraine. Radiation levels rose 80-fold: Russia attacked Ukraine with uranium-equipped drones Quote
romad1 Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Can the Canadians on this forum confirm... I was just looking at a couple Canadian media sites (CBC, Toronto Star, Vancouver Sun, Montreal Journal - the French one) they all are covering Ukraine pretty intensely. It definitely feels like Ukraine is back page for us now. Unless you are a sicko national security type you won't see that stuff. Quote

Wouldn't say that coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is covered consistently with intensity in Canadian media - you're unlikely to hear much about day-to-day events, unless they are really significant (such as the attacks on the Wildberries warehouses), but this might be more than what the US media broadcasts Note that Canadian media also operates on a liberal-conservative spectrum/bias (and many Canadian media outlets are owned by American companies). This bias can have an editorial impact on the stories that are being communicated. Quote

ewsieg Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Heard even Laura Loomer is being supportive of Ukraine now. With Zelensky taking out Iran ships and talking with Netanyahu, I feel like we might be a week away from the GOP going full pro-Ukraine while the progressive democrat base begin to sour on Ukraine as they are willing to work with Israel. That said, one phone call from Putin always seems to redirect Trump in the direction he wants him. Quote

Laura Loomer is a big get for Zelensky but it was of a piece with her saying "who are the anti-Semites?" and seeing that her rivals in the MAGA side were Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson. She may also be getting a golf tournament sized check from Ukraine's intel services. Quote
