  1. Ausar with 8 minutes and a +3 while Livers gets 22 minutes and a -7 Sasser with 6 minutes and a +4 while Hayes gets 16 minutes and a -4 Livers and Hayes with a combined 5 points. Somebody try to make sense of this. The Pistons have had a lot of dark eras since the "Going to Work" years but a 3-32 team that isn't interested in developing key young players has to be the worst by a longshot and this coach is a big part of it.

  2. Yep. This is exactly where I am at. Look. If they were contending for something, even a playoff spot, I totally get limiting the rookies. But like you pointed out with their record. This is one of the worst teams in the history of the league. Force feed Ausar and Sasser minutes. My rule for rookies would be simple. Play hard you get minutes. I don't care how many mistakes you make as long as you play hard.

  4. By the way, the end goal is a comprehensive transaction and team personnel database, something that isn't really out there. Step 1 is attempting to put an index of every Tigers amateur international signing together.

  6. That's the thing, besides the fact that this is a 3-32 team and the primary objective should be developing potential core young players, it's not like the players ahead of Ausar and Sasser are earning their minutes. Killian with a big fat 0 on the scoresheet despite playing 17 minutes, Livers is a 3 and D with a 3 that's disappeared and D that isn't that good anyway. These guys have been in the league a while by now, we know what they are at this point so what's the point of wrecking Ausar and Sasser's confidence by benching them for the sake of playing these guys who bring nothing to the table anyway and have no upside to be more than what they are now? Burks and Bogey I get in a sense because the Pistons are so shooter starved but even with them, they're liabilities when the shots aren't going down and should be limited when they have an off shooting night yet Monty continues to play the hell out of them even when the shots aren't falling. If we're going to have to suffer through a 3-32 season, at least let the young guys play through their mistakes instead of force feeding us old guys and young vets who have no future here. Just a bottomless pit of hopelessness this season mixed in with Gores and Weaver spewing verbal diarrhea when they do speak and to top it off one of the worst drafts that I've ever witnessed in my 3 decades or so of following drafts with literally no prospect that looks like anything more than a good role player as of right now, never seen anything like it. Seriously, who is any good? Ja'Kobe Walter looks interesting, that's about all I got really.

  9. from wheeler: Trey Augustine (G, Detroit Red Wings): So controlled in his movements. Always seems to be in the right spots and ready for shots. As good a goalie down low as there is at this level. Kicks absolutely everything out. Anton Johansson (D, Detroit Red Wings): Physical. Strong. Seldom used, though, after losing his top-six job to Theo Lindstein early. Axel Sandin Pellikka (D, Detroit Red Wings): His usual eager self putting pucks on net from the point. Got better as the tournament went on and became a real go-to guy for the Swedes. Hard to believe he was still their youngest D for the second year in a row. Nate Danielson (F, Detroit Red Wings): Scored Canada’s first goal of the tournament and set up its second. Was good later in the tournament, too. Thought he was just OK through the middle of it. Played with intention and consistency. Simplified his game but did so effectively. Did show some skill/skating in a depth role. Minutes rose in some important moments. When others sat, he kept getting shifts. Kevin Bicker (F, Detroit Red Wings): Skated well. Liked him in the relegation game, and not just because he opened the scoring (was on the puck more, moving his feet on and off the puck, holding it, and involved in play creation). Wasn’t otherwise super noticeable (that goal, in what was his fifth game, was on just his fourth shot of the tournament), though he did show some nice vision/on-puck play at times. Don’t view him as much of an NHL prospect, though, honestly. Had a nice run of play on a tour of North America last year and it got him picked, but his profile and play since haven’t necessarily reflected that. Will be a good mid-tier pro. Not sure I see more than that.

  10. Thanks guys. A bunch did just come from Ebay and reek of cigarette smoke to the point I'm not sure they are usable.

  11. Given how abruptly that video was cut, it makes it seem like he was taken out of context. And no I don't want to hear the rest of it. Just hearing his voice for five secends makes me ill and he most likely said something dumber ten seconds further into his speech.

  13. I have an inkling. Hint: It will be the same reason it doesn't work out in Detroit.

  14. I've watched all of these games and Ausar is very good at passing and making reads. He has a very high BBall IQ. His turnovers come from trying to do too much off the dribble, which is totally different. His handle is loose, but I'm not asking him to play PG. Draymond isn't great at dribbling either and he's often playing alongside Looney who's not a shooter (like Duren) and Wiggins who's shooting 30% from three. They use him in DHOs or at the elbow while guys are screening and cutting. Obviously, we don't have Curry, but imagine Ivey zooming around off-ball screens. Bogey is also very good at shooting off of screens. If Duren's defender tries to step up on Ivey/Bogey, he's got a easy cut to the rim with a lob. Not saying they'll be GS 2.0, but it would certainly be better than what we're seeing. Of course, that would require Monty to be creative offensively and he's trash. There's no off-ball movement, cutting, he can't even figure out something as basic as Ausar in the dunker spot on a Cade/Duren pick and roll. Or that same play inverted. There are VERY basic ways to use Ausar's strengths in the offense rather than stick him in the strong side corner where his man can easily double with no penalty. This coaching is criminal. And even for this hopeless offense that Monty is running, is playing Livers a better idea? He's gives you far less in every other aspect of the game, isn't a cornerstone of the team, and his shooting is M.I.A. (25% from three).
