Well played by all involved.

Let's be honest. The name Casimir is a helluva lot sexier than Kutter.

I don't know. If Grossman does end up on the IL, that leaves only 3 true OFs on the big league roster (Meadows, Baddoo, Reyes). CastroH has spent time out there, but he's also the only bench IF. Clemens doesn't have much experience outside of 2B. And a quick check of Clemens' fielding history shows less than 200 IP in the OF. The other options are Cameron, Short, and CastroW, if they stick to the 40 (or Hill if he's recovered). It seems like it would be Cameron, but it sounded like the organization was a little exasperated with him before he was sent down.

I'll be honest, I thought he was going to lose when he got to a 3 ball count against Verdugo right after the MartinezJD HR. Didn't he go 3-0 before getting to a full count?

That's good.

Now steal 3B!

He pitched well yesterday, no doubt. I'm still on the side of doubtful of Manning, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.

His swing is incredibly violent at times. Like most times.

And they wonder why they have issues with growing the game.

I don't know if I am buying that theory, however, it also wouldn't be surprising for MLB to engage in this.

Don't take this for gospel, but it looks like a "true" DH. My guess is that is because there is no time attached to it. Contrast that game 2 and no time stuck to it with the Twins' DH a few weeks later. There are times noted for both games.

They’re pitching to him like he’s Brandon Inge.

I think given how the game had been playing out, they weren’t in position to rely on hitting to get them back into it. The bats were less than impressive and they were going to need to take advantage of opportunities that presented themselves. This was one of them. If you haven’t had a chance to see a replay yet, the ball skipped off to the RHH side of the home plate dirt (outside of the dirt). It took a good play to get Baez out. There certainly was risk in Baez trying to score, obviously so considering he was thrown out. But considering part of that calculus was a RP running to the plate, catching the ball, and applying the tag without wiggle room, I have no problem with it. Sometimes you force the other team to make a play. They did. Tip your hat to them.

The carpool after the game better be going straight to the practice fields. No Dairy Queen today.

Detroit Pistons (23-58) vs Philadelphia 76ers (50-31)

Just to put some perspective on that, I just eyeballed NBA 30 & over season averages on basketball reference. There have been 73 season averages of 30 & over, and 36 of those were before 1982. David Robinson averaged 29.79 in ‘93-‘94, Shaquille O’Neal 29.67 in ‘99-‘00.

Is this when he tried to score off of the passed ball during Cabrera’s plate appearance? I have zero problem with it. It required a good throw, perfect catch, and perfect tag to nip him in time. The play was in front of Baez, he could see it, and he’s shown to be a smart enough base runner to make that decision.

Torkelson doesn’t know how to slide?

Is drunk Uncle Tony getting Hendriks up in the bullpen yet?

All the Tigers can do is out there and take care of their own business. Everything else will happen however it happens.

4/8 1:10 White Sox @ Tigers **OPENING DAY 2022**
casimir replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Game Threads
That's a really good way to put it. I don't think there is a lack of effort there, and with all of the different assignments that Shepard has had in his career, he has the resume for being a part of an MLB broadcast. But is that role play-by-play, is there a dynamic with the current situation that is holding him back? -
Not as long as today is going to be for Chicago.
