Just tuned into this thread for the first time, so sorry if this has already been said... I hate the All-Star game and the break! I hate it that I don't have Tigers baseball for FOUR DAYS! I hate it that the Tigers almost never play on my birthday because of the dumb All-Star game! (...rant over...)

I agree. But with them added, are we satisfied with one swing and miss addition only?

If the rotation is shortened to 3 or 4 in the playoffs, then Montero and SGL could be moved to the bullpen displacing folks like Hanifee and Lee. Does that give make us feel at all better about the bullpen? Does that affect who/how many relievers we try to add at the deadline?

If Harris trades for Skenes, I believe it will be to help this season AND to be free to trade Skubal during the offseason before he becomes a free agent. So, whatever high cost it takes to get Skenes will be offset by whatever return we get from Skubal (minus the worth of the comp pick we would get for letting him walk). That offset might mean making a deal is possible.

I wonder if the Tigers go big on getting a SPer at the deadline (I don't know what top quality starter might be available) with the obvious hope of winning the WS this year, but also to give them the option of a replacement for Skubal (of course, anyone would be a step down) so that they feel free to trade him a year before he becomes a free agent. That way they can possibly get a better package for him.
