  1. Palacios isn't a switch hitter. The Tigers like switch hitting utility infielders who can't hit lefthanded. You can play them and their .620 OPS in a corner outfield spot. So, Palacios isn't staying.
  2. I lived in Winnipeg for a year, a long time ago, and if you were 100 yards from the intersection and the light turned yellow it meant "hit the gas pedal hard".
  3. And I don't think that they will release him, and he won't accept any of the "creative solutions" dreamed about by some, and therefore he's on the opening day roster.
  4. So, you either give him a spot on the team, or you give him his outright release. Simple. No fantasizing about "creative solutions". Choose one or the other.
  5. Cabrera wasn't a prima donna last spring, so I don't know why he would be next spring. He openly said that Baez was going to lead the team. As for "the team is bad so might as well keep Miggy", that was never said by anyone here. No one wants Cabrera on the team, but not many people want to release him either. So there we are. I don't think that there is any middle ground to fantasize about. The guy who gets the blame is dead, and there is nothing that Avila or Harris can do about it.
  6. Yes I had thought that we were finished with that.
  7. Yes, you don't have any choice other than to DFA him, same as it has ever been.
  8. Yes, get the $40 million over with in the next 12 months. Once that contract expires I don't ever want to hear about it again.
  9. No one wants Cabrera, least of all Scott Harris. I think it's a bit strong to say that if Cabrera is here it means that Scott Harris doesn't care about results. It might only mean that he didn't want to DFA him. I don't think that there is any sort of humiliating goodwill role that Cabrera will accept. We probably won't know until the end of spring training.
  10. Oh please, not this "Hinch to the front office" again. I thought that we stamped that out a long time ago. Exactly what would he do when he got there? Keep criticizing the video guys who didn't cure Grossman?
  11. That's funny, that Tesla is "starting production" today, and could deliver anything, to anybody, on December 1. If they started today I don't think that they could deliver a peanut butter sandwich on December 1.
  12. I won't live to see it but I get a feeling of comfort that some day most of those places will not have anything to sell except sand.
  13. I liked him at third. If you hit it right to him he made all the plays, and he had a cannon arm.
  14. I wouldn't worry about ruffling feathers by changing bullpen roles. Guys are trying to win. I think feathers would be ruffled enough by seeing Grossman stink it up every night in July, and trot out there again the next night. Guys are trying to win, and they would like to believe that the management is headed in the same direction. Make the obvious changes or lose the room.
  15. Yeah this year I thought the over/under would be 12.
  16. I don't know how that park factor is calculated. Out of curiosity, if the park was neutral 10 years ago, and now it isn't, does that have anything to do with Cabrera being able to hit 20 home runs per year there 10 years ago, and now he can't?
  17. Wow that is some video. So that's what "detained" looks like.
  18. Alexander gives up 2 homers in his first 7 pitches.
  19. You know the team has given up when they are starting Bette Davis in right field.
  20. Don't employ him in odd numbered years.
  21. I don't remember any outfielder with a poor throwing arm ever substantially improving it. It seems like an opportunity for those who study biomechanics.
  22. That's a shame, I always like it when he arrives in a private jet to admonish everyone about the environment.
  23. Yes, there have been various humiliations suggested for him for the past two years, first base coach is the latest and the least likely. He isn't going to accept any of them, there is no reason why he should. Nobody forced Mike Ilitch to offer him that money and especially not that term. He isn't going to be a circus monkey for anybody.
  24. Hutchison has pitched over 100 innings for the Tigers this year. Incredible.
