  1. Ha ha ha ha! "What's this 'we' shit, Kemosabe?"
  2. Such a great movie and Dana Winter makes you want to enlist.
  3. That is so bizarre. .
  4. I heard Ted Williams say once that Whitaker was one of his favourite hitters. "A little guy who can put it on the roof".
  5. I agree, he should take 10/300 if it's offered.
  6. Mattingly is ridiculous.
  7. It seems like making his expectations known did not work so well last time. He just left 2/70 on the table too, it will be hard to accept AAV that is much lower than that. I can't see him accepting 10/300. That's only 11% more than the Tigers offered him, which would be quite a humiliation. He needs to find another big money deal, one year plus options, and keep kicking free agency down the road one year at a time.
  8. Mount Rushmore of players whose stats I was always in hurry to look up from the night before: LeFlore, Gibson, Fielder, Encarnacion.
  9. Well what do you think about 10/300? Will he accept AAV under 34.1?
  10. I think that aiming for the Lindor contract is the screw-up, it just isn't there and he had to take 1/35 plus 2 options that would never be exercised unless he was in a coma. I know, never say never, there is always one stupid team out there, but no one is ever going to commit 10 years to Correa.
  11. Here's a trend most people are noticing: American politicians named Ron are stupid.
  12. And then do the B side: Heilmann, Whitaker, Freehan, Newhouser
  13. Cobb, Greenberg, Gehringer and Kaline
  14. I think that Correa will be remembered as the greatest f-up of Boras' career.
  15. It's a fair question, considering that he is a year older. "Full season" is generous I think. Your 27 year old marquee player should play 150 games, and 136 means missing that objective by 10%, with 50 fewer PA's than the year before. I think that the Twins deal will be harder to find now. What a horrible call by Boras in hindsight, giving up a World Series championship to play for the freaking Twins and chase a contract that exists mostly in his mind.
  16. OK I think I have it now. He quit playing for a dynasty because he wanted more security. But that doesn't mean more money. Correct?
  17. Because more than 5 years is worth...more money?
  18. If "the money" is $340 million, it's hard to get there without "the years". He should be playing in the World Series right now.
  19. Exactly, might as well make the difference 10 cents. Correa is a guy who was already playing for a dynasty, and left it for money, so "playing for a winner" in his particular case seems insignificant. If the difference in money is significant, he's taking the money even if it's the '61 Mets.
  20. What's happened to Maggie Haberman? I only saw her on TV twice this week.
  21. I also think that in Correa's case he might have Lindor's contract stuck in his head, and the Twins' offer was the only one that let him think that he had matched Lindor's AAV. In my opinion the Twins wasted that money and I doubt that they or anyone else will do it again. So what is he going to do then? Sooner or later he is going to have to accept 3/87 (still an overpay I think).
  22. He'll do it for $35 million, just like he did last year.
  23. Sure seems that way. I don't know anything about college baseball or scouting, but the way they described him on draft day was uninspiring. It reminded me of my all time favourite first round pick, righthander Cade Gaspar. The first 2 words in his draft summary were "Not overpowering", and I just said to myself, well Jesus H Christ.
  24. Lol they bought abduction insurance, $1 million each for 50 members. Imagine being the underwriter being asked to sign off on the risk: "Hell yeah!"
