  1. True, and it is also possible that Correa did not want to play for Hinch again.
  2. He nailed the market, right on the nose. Boras said in November 2021 that the conversation starts at 10/340, and the market told him to cram it with both hands, and told him the same thing this year. All Boras could do to try to save face was beg for a couple of extra years on the Ilitch deal.
  3. It's funny, the Mets offer is basically 10/270, plus 2 additional years at 22.5 per. I believe that Al Avila would match that but I hope Harris will not.
  4. He might be headed back to the Twins at this rate. He left 2/70 on the table there. Would they still offer it?
  5. The job of Big Fat Righthanded Reliever was open.
  6. Yeah but Robertson's hair ruins everything.
  7. I'm not disappointed at all. I have yet to see a player signed this offseason that I would want, at the price that was paid in AAV and term.
  8. I think that relegation works in English football because there are 92 clubs independent of each other in the first 4 levels, and literally thousands of clubs at levels 5 and below. Theoretically they could all advance to the premiership. There is not anything in North American pro sports that is analogous to that.
  9. Yes Woodsy doesn't necessarily get into all the events he wants now, with Israel Premier Tech having been relegated.
  10. I'm told that when Correa slices his bagel he puts his finger in the hole.
  11. Yes Boyd's deal is completely fair for a lefthander with a pulse who might do 150 innings.
  12. I think we will find out who the third baseman is at the end of March.
  13. Yes there will a logical process such as this, perhaps not WAR but some kind of an assessment that calculates his probable value. Then you offer him what you think he is worth. If he isn't worth $7 million, you don't offer it to him. If he turns down your offer, that's fine.
  14. I would add Keith to your list, he looks like a hitter but do you have to hide his glove somewhere?
  15. I'm not Harris, I'm a fan. I'm against overpaying Candelario by 40% because within a fixed budget it weakens the team. And Harris isn't there to save money for the owner, I don't know where that is coming from.
  16. Harris thinks he's worth $5 million but not $7 million.
  17. Harris did not come here to save money for the owner. Why would he take a job like that? He has a budget, and he is going to spend it, but not by overpaying guys by 40%.
  18. I'll be curious to see if Justyn-Henry plays third base at Toledo. I hope so, give him 40 games there and if he is covered in bruises then you say oh well, he's a left fielder. And let's see what Wenceel Perez can do with 40 games at second base at Toledo. Is he a major league regular or not, I think that the consensus might be "not", but let's find out. Those are the two guys that I am most interested in for 2023.
  19. I'm against paying a guy $7 million if he is only worth $5 million because I understand that payroll is a limited resource and will be used to construct the entire roster, not just one position. So it makes all kinds of sense for me, as a fan, to agree that he can stay for 5 but not for 7. What makes no sense at all to me, as a fan, would be to think that it doesn't matter what the price is for his production.
  20. Chris Ilitch also approved 10/270 for Correa which, as the Giants just proved, was exactly the right market value for a 10 year deal for that particular player. There is no evidence at all to support the claim that he will not spend.
  21. I don't regret "missing out" on any of the premium free agent signings so far. If you want to put 9 good players in the lineup you have to develop 7 of them yourself.
  22. Oh absolutely, if I can pay Baddoo and Carpenter less than a $1 million each I don't want Benintendi at $15 million. He's not even close to that value for a team that already has several mediocre LHB outfielders and I don't think he is a plus defender. Is he better than those 2 guys? At this stage, you could perhaps say yes, but is he $15 million better? Absolutely no freaking way. He's not even $8 million better. And Baddoo and Carpenter have the possibility of some upside, Benintendi doesn't. And Carpenter has some power potential which is desperately needed, and Benintendi has none. So I am glad he signed with the White Sox, I don't think that he makes them stronger.
  23. Thanks I was too lazy to look up Sale and Abreu and I forgot about Dunn. So Abreu's AAV was a bit higher but the point was that they haven't done 5 years before. I'm pretty sure that Benintendi isn't the player that I would break the mould for.
  24. Cabrera scored on a sac fly to short left this year, running Benintendi's arm all the way. No power and no arm makes him questionable value. How is it possible that 5/75 is the largest contract in Sox history? Does that just mean they haven't done 5 years before?
  25. The mullet, the chain and the eyewear seem to be screaming "douchebag".
