  1. They will, but if they mention Paredes it means that they didn't examine his season very closely. It occurs in 3 segments: (a) before June 21 (b) June 21 to July 3 (11 games), and (c) after July 3. If you take out (b) his season was Tigeresque and the Rays did not "fix" him. But yes some people will suggest that he became a solid every day regular, which he did not.
  2. I won't mind, I hope he does well. I won't regret letting him go, and to me it doesn't matter if "the new thirdbaseman" doesn't do as well as Candelario does in a one-season sample. He had an OPS+ of less than 100 in 3 out of his 5 years with the Tigers, and now he's 29. So I agree with Harris that he isn't a cornerstone of the next playoff team. I hope he has a good year and gets a nice contract.
  3. This might be the year, at last, when Cabrera bats 6th. But there would have to be 5 guys better than he is for that to happen.
  4. Coach AJ and Coach George both said so.
  5. He might keep the job himself for a year.
  6. Just once I want to see a prospect photo where the guy is holding the bat cross-handed.
  7. Those International guys Jimenez and Orozco, you could put both of them inside Cisnero's uniform.
  8. Yeah, all it does is prevent you from throwing over there 10 times. Which nobody does anymore, because Rickey Henderson isn't on first anymore.
  9. Yes, this will possibly let Trump off the hook. In any case it reinforces Biden's image as a bumbler.
  10. I'm a bit confused by this. In the United States, you get to keep your highest title, correct? Ergo some people still call Rudy "Mayor Giuliani", and Hillary is still "Madame Secretary"? If that is true, wouldn't Eisenhower be entitled to be called General if he wanted to be, regardless of his active status?
  11. We don't know anything at all about whether or not Harris is trying to sign Chafin.
  12. Cisnero isn't causing any particular harm right now. The danger is that he will stink but they will stubbornly refuse to stop playing him, like they did with Grossman last year.
  13. Interesting concept: Most Irrelevant Player on the 40. I think I'll go with Zach Short,
  14. You guys are forgetting that the Tigers have a defined bullpen role, Big Fat Righthanded Reliever, that needs to be filled and Cisnero has all the tools.
  15. Vera, Chuck and Dave.
  16. I think that the Twins might have outbid themselves there. Starting from the 2/70 that the Twins had previously made available, they added on 4/130. That seems like a huge overpay to me but I am probably in the minority. So if this is finally the end of the saga, when you add in the $35 he made last year, the final tally is 7/235. And it cost him a World Series championship to get there. To play for the Twins. I am having a hard time seeing this as a master class in bargaining by Boras.
  17. The Tigers used to reward that kind of performance. If they signed a veteran to play Triple A, and he exceeded expectations, he got called up because he earned it. Kevin Witt, Ernie Young, Don Kelly 2.0 for a few.
  18. Yes, if he can hit a little bit it would be good to have a good defensive outfielder who bats RH
  19. Soldiers were more disciplined back then, they kept their cell phones turned off.
  20. Drones were only used for surveillance at the Somme.
  21. I was in the car with one of my kids last week with an oldies station on the radio, and a song by the O'Jays came on, and I said what an unfortunate choice that name had been. He said yes, they had missed an opportunity in the 1990's to reverse that negative image, they could have renamed themselves The Cosbys.
  22. I checked his stats from last year, he threw out baserunners at a very high rate.
  23. Fond memories of Joe Nathan.
  24. He looks like he should be working for Jim Adduci.
