Originally I thought that Hinch's 3 years remaining on his contract would be an obstacle to hiring a GM who might want to bring along his own manager but then I realized that that thinking was 20 years out of date. Chris I went out and got one of the hottest young front office stars...how could that be? And now I think that I am seeing things more clearly. (a) Scott Harris knows that on a team this bad the manager is irrelevant (b) If he wanted to buy out Hinch the cost is peanuts, probably about 3.75 million for the last 3 years, and Chris I has given him absolute authority to do that

Hinch wins with good players and loses with bad players, just like everybody else, plus or minus 5 games. There is no reason to fire him, and also no reason not to fire him. Harris will be ambivalent about him. He's way way down the list of issues that have any importance, given the state of the organization.

Every country has those people, the ones who were only 50-50 to be successfully potty trained, but it seems like that percentage of the population is increasing. Yes, I think that the whole premise that a "win" is worth $9 million is easily proven to be false by the simple fact that no one is going to pay $45 million for 5 "wins".

Correa isn't getting 10 years from anyone at this point, so that by itself doesn't rule the Tigers out. He might spend the rest of his career on 1 year deals if he continues to insist on Lindor's AAV, but I don't think that Harris will even do that. I think he will view that Twins contract as an overpay.

When you watch him and listen to him, it seems likely that he was very stupid even before all the head trauma. It would be interesting to watch an interview of him in university.

He never really stopped being a free agent, he just kicked it down the road for a year. He did stay in the lineup for 136 games, which is not too bad but you wouldn't want to see much less. I don't think that $340 million is any more likely this year than it was last year.

Palacios isn't a switch hitter. The Tigers like switch hitting utility infielders who can't hit lefthanded. You can play them and their .620 OPS in a corner outfield spot. So, Palacios isn't staying.
