  1. Yeah, generally speaking guys who strike out at ridiculously high rates just keep on doing it. I don't know if he is on any top 30 lists but I don't think I'd put him on one. The Tigers disagree or else he wouldn't be at AFL.
  2. So, you signed it in June? You were stupid in June.
  3. Mixed bag I think. If you ignore an insane 11 game streak the results were disappointing, to me at least. I was hoping for a lot more OBP than from his Tigers career, and he didn't settle into a steady defensive role. He's still very young though.
  4. Also, which city does your wife like better?
  5. You could appoint - not elect - a commie-style Political Officer in each region.
  6. Lol he's waiting for your answer. The fact is, there could be a difference in the money that is so overwhelming that "winning team" becomes secondary. If the money is close then of course winning matters. So you can't write a rule about having to play for a winner without also acknowledging that there is an amount of money, such as Lindor's contract, that Correa would accept without regard for potential to win if no one else offered anything close.
  7. In your example no of course he wouldn't take an extra $10 million over 10 years. Change your example to where the losing team offers an extra $100 million...now what?
  8. I think he wanted Lindor's contract and believed that he could get it.
  9. That fourth dimension, a lot of people underestimate how valuable it can be.
  10. I think that these are the good old days.
  11. Oh, that guy? Yeah I remember him from Stanford, and then we both ended up at Goldman Sachs for a while. He was a striver, wanted to hang with the group of us who actually had real money. Married a rich girl I think.
  12. OK so check out that wish list you made out. David Chadd - gone. Coolbaugh - gone. Kevin Rand - gone. That's my whole list. Is there anyone else we should take bets on?
  13. That's all true but it isn't just his bat that I'm not thrilled about, it's his glove too. I don't want to bet 5% of the payroll on him.
  14. And him delivering on his "projections" is dubious.
  15. I would also be worried that his age 30 season, just completed, was outrageously superior to his entire previous body of work and only his rookie season was even close. What changed? Can he repeat it? For the previous 4 years he is a .920 OPS guy with a lot of missed time. I think I'm not in on this one for the amount of money that will be involved.
  16. I think it is incorrect to say that $7 million is irrelevant. It doesn't matter that Ilitch can afford it, of course he can. But he is likely to give a Harris a fixed budget and $7 million could be as much as 5% of the total. That's a lot of commitment for one guy of dubious value.
  17. Assholes. Negotiate directly with Russia, as if Ukraine is some sort of US territory. Lots of people are vying for the Neville Chamberlain award but I still like Kissinger for it.
  18. Hey those weren't supposed to be for the public, it was just Trump and Bob Dylan and the rest of the guys (except Levon) down in the basement experimenting with new sounds.
  19. There's a guy on that list of casualties that we have been talking about here for 15 years.
  20. That's a dilemma for sure. His body looks nothing like Cabrera's at the same age, he probably will still look super fit in year number 8 of his next contract. I think I would still shy away from him though, I don't want any more 38 year old guys with mega contracts. But the extra ticket revenue for at least the first 4 years is important. How much will he get? 8/360?
  21. It seems a bit wasteful.
  22. Was Correa's 2022 worth 35 million? No.
  23. Palacios weighs 145?
  24. Don't do it, don't start one of those violent "Ginger vs Mary Ann" epic brawls where guys end up in the hospital.
