  1. I don't know what I'm talking about but when I see Keith's stance and his swing he actually looks like a hitter to me.
  2. I think that they gave it their best effort and put in as many hours as any other organization. They just weren't any good at it.
  3. Nobody complained at all, and many were surprised to get anything at all for Paredes.
  4. Cas was referring to the 3 straight 100 loss seasons, Bregman wasn't one of those picks.
  5. They made a terrific pick at #11 in 2011, George Springer, but that was after a 76-86 season.
  6. They did get Correa with a 1-1 pick in 2012, but the high picks after the rest of the 100 loss seasons didn't amount to much I don’t think.
  7. They were not "trying to lose in order to improve their draft position" (i.e. "tanking"), that was never a strategy. They were trying to build a stable, consistent long term winner and were just dreadful at it. Nobody "tanks" in baseball, the draft picks aren't worth it.
  8. That's who I was trying to think of, but Jim Eisenreich was all I could come up with.
  9. Rob Thomson looks like the guy who comes to fix your dishwasher.
  10. Tobin Rote played QB for the hated Toronto Argonauts.
  11. It's a good question I think. Those millions of assholes who rose up in support of him, they are all still out there, as loud as ever, and they don't need him anymore. It's a good question. "I wasn't going to vote Republican, or vote at all, but I've been following Trump on Twitter and he has convinced me that I should". It's hard to imagine anyone feeling that way in 2022...I don't think that he can attract any new supporters, he already found them all.
  12. Sure is, but it's not all his...right? He conned some other investors too I think?
  13. Get serious, my first $700,000 is going to go on gold chains and pickup trucks.
  14. Good stuff, thanks.
  15. If anything, it is under-reported because it happens every week and people get desensitized to it. The sheer volume of dead kids is overwhelming.
  16. I agree, I was just throwing it back in Reggie's face. It always seems so hypocritical to demand a gargantuan contract while at the same time admitting that they need a whole bunch of good teammates.
  17. Pudge is a great example. If someone offered Correa the Lindor contract - no one will, but if they did - he would grab it in a heartbeat and wouldn't think twice about the organization's winning potential. This whole thing about "wanting to play for a winner" has always bugged me, I think Reggie Jackson was the first to say it out loud. If you are as good as you think you are, your team should be a winner by definition, shouldn't it?
  18. I was just thinking "hey there's Gloria Allred"
  19. Yes, and not only that but what are the odds in any country except the United States? It's a damned disgrace and it's getting worse, it's a horror show.
  20. Yeah, generally speaking guys who strike out at ridiculously high rates just keep on doing it. I don't know if he is on any top 30 lists but I don't think I'd put him on one. The Tigers disagree or else he wouldn't be at AFL.
  21. So, you signed it in June? You were stupid in June.
  22. Mixed bag I think. If you ignore an insane 11 game streak the results were disappointing, to me at least. I was hoping for a lot more OBP than from his Tigers career, and he didn't settle into a steady defensive role. He's still very young though.
  23. Also, which city does your wife like better?
  24. You could appoint - not elect - a commie-style Political Officer in each region.
  25. Lol he's waiting for your answer. The fact is, there could be a difference in the money that is so overwhelming that "winning team" becomes secondary. If the money is close then of course winning matters. So you can't write a rule about having to play for a winner without also acknowledging that there is an amount of money, such as Lindor's contract, that Correa would accept without regard for potential to win if no one else offered anything close.
