  1. I'm seeing the Rangers are looking for a starter and reliever in trade, they're hoping to get both from one team would a combination of Rodríguez, Lorenzen, Cisneros, Lang or Foley be enough to target Acuña and possibly another prospect?
  2. So it's apparently it's ok to join a riot, break in and vandalize the Capitol. But a small group of under paid interns taking pictures of the Capitol dome drives a Trumpublican Congress critter bat**** crazy....
  3. Another political grifter running for any open seat near him.

  5. Interesting TwiXter threads are not loading..
  6. Thinking maybe as early as next week, although tomorrow would be great..
  7. And yet the still turn a blind eye to Jared Kushners shady $2B with the the Saudi's https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/05/jared-kushner-affinity-partners-saudi-arabia
  8. I miss Baseball Weekly. But by then I was middle aged
  9. We had to recycle butcher shop twine. An if it broke tie it back together. The twine had to last all winter and spring
  10. Old enough to remember bread wrappers over shoes
  11. You had an elevator? We had to shimmy up a rope to the fourth floor. The stairs stopped at the second floor
  12. With all the TGOP anti woke stuff lately I was wondering if our resident anti gay/trans folk would like to explain the popularity of country stars of the past like Porter Wagoner, George Jones, Roy Rodgers, Gram Parsons, etc Rather than dressing like they just repaired their John Deere
  13. We were talking about that last night. Not sure I want to drive over 60 miles to find a 70mm IMAX Theatre
  14. Maybe not as bad as initial reports. But the again, Lions... Also seeing reports that there was contact with a blocker during the drill..
  15. I love this take. Especially since I'm old enough to remember when we had discussions over things like taxes and such...
  16. I tend to be all over the place when it comes to cash or card. I prefer using cash as my hair place. Restaurants I tend to go with the card for whatever reason. Until recently there really hasn't been much choice. Chase has been slow entering the market without having to drive 40 miles for an ATM
  17. Re: the whole beer thing. there are several of us who don't drink the brand because we've their beer sucks. I haven't had a AB product since they've been owned by a company based in Belgium and Germany. i'm also old enough to remember when you went to an AB owned amusement park. Now it's part of a multi national corp and their parks are over priced and substandard. I guess to the MAGA's of the world who love to get gouged on very expensive roller coasters and watery beer that's woke
  18. Agree wholeheartedly with the above. To me one of the joys of living where I do near Colonial Williamsburg, Va is the effort the Foundation has made in recent years to tell all sides of the story leading up to the Revolution. The fact that blacks made up a little more than 50% of the population and free blacks were about half of that. Not to mention insight into the paradox of wanting to break bonds with England while holding on to the institution of slavery. Not to mention the cost both socially and monetarily of attempting to free the slaves. It's been a whole new education experience for me, somewhat on the level of an advanced Early American history class. People haven't changed over the nearly 400 years of our history.
  19. At best RD may be telling a 1/4 truth. While true many slaves learned "valuable trades" (John Hemmings, Sally's half brother, became a master Joiner training under white master craftsmen) they were still slaves. There was no way they could go out on their own to obtain jobs. Most likely they were "rented out" to other farms and plantations and their masters reaped the riches of their training. Not to mention separating workers from their families for months at a time. Even after slaves were emancipated, a free black finding a decent paying job in a white man's world was fairly unlikely. Heck, even into the 70s and 80s minorities usually received second class wages. I highly doubt the "anti-woke" crowd wants to see this taught in their schools because their privileged white kids would feel bad.
  20. Mackinac is a nice place to visit for a day or two. That said at one time my wife's job had her up there every year for 15 plus year for the Detroit Region Chamber of Commerce shindig. I tagged along for a few years and helped out a bit. The problem was after you've biked the island several times, had lunch and bought some fudge there really wasn't much to do for the other 3 days. If they booked her at the Grand, you couldn't enjoy the porch because inevitably you'd end up encroaching on some bigwig's meeting with another mover and shaker. i just got to the point of saying "have fun and bring back some fudge"
