  1. This has to be the sickest and most bazaar ad produced for a candidate I've ever seen. Who in their right mind support whomever approved this ad?
  2. We had a similar situation with a mortgage lender after deciding against them. The hard sell and never take no for an answer is definitely a turnoff.
  3. JMU was originally a woman's college until about 1966 (I had to look it up, it wasn't on my radar in 1970 as a co-ed school). I think in some areas it's still considered a teachers' school. TBH, given a do-over I might have considered it over the quickie Famous Broadcaster School. I haven't spent much time in Harrisonburg recently, but I think the location might play a factor in the demographics considering other local options.
  4. Yesterday was Mel Brooks 97th birthday. There was a lot written about Blazing Saddles, but I feel High Anxiety was his best film. A great parody of the 1960s and early 70s thrillers. My favorite scene, nobody does it better...
  5. Pig Virus posting from another disinformation site no one believes lThe website was created in 2007 as a forum focused around conspiracy content such as UFOs and paranormal phenomena. In 2021, the website announced it would be operating exclusively as a news website. Currently, it presents itself as a news aggregator on its social media platforms and website Come on Piglet, try hardrr
  6. Reading the transcript. Makes the Nixon tapes sound like small potatoes..
  7. I had an uncle who was a barber. Looking back I'm sure he ran book. Nice house on Pittsburgh's North Side, always a new car. He once called my father claiming to make big bucks on the Notre Dame/Va Tech NIT Championship game in the early 70s when the tournament actually mattered. Come to think about it both my grandmother's brothers were funny that way..
  8. Has anyone talked to Gym Jordan recently?
  9. Any one have left over brain cells from Howard Stern and Private Parts?
  10. This looks like a fairly good discussion of the Russian Military Doctrine and where things stand. He does get a bit into the weeds....bottom line it's going to be slog.. https://open.substack.com/pub/mickryan/p/the-state-of-the-ukraine-campaign?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email https://open.substack.com/pub/mickryan/p/the-state-of-the-ukraine-campaign?r=45wcm&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post
  11. MLB Pipeline (Jonathan Mayo) has released their latest mock. They have the Pirates taking Skenes based on his performance at the College World Series. The Nationals get Crews with Langford going to the Tigers...
  12. More two tiered justice, Donald? https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article276608961.html?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
  13. If We Were Vampires is one of those for me. Especially after reaching that age and facing our version of "retirement" whatever that is. "Maybe we'll get 40 years together. One of us will have to be alone" edit..we're coming up on 43. As my wife remarked recently, "I think we've become that cute old couple some people talk about"
  14. I recently watched Running With Our Eyes Closed, the documentary on Isbell and Amanda Shires. That led me to a deep dive into his music. So many songs that hit you in the tender spots. Incredible song writer and artist.
  15. Only incumbents in our districts, no challengers. Just on Dem candidate for house and senate
  16. A couple of interesting results from yesterday's primary results near here. Two long time political gadflys lost bids for re-election. Democrat Joe Morrissey, who has been plagued for years by scandals, including reports of abuse by his much younger wife, lost in a race that focused on abortion rights. Amanda Chase, who calls herself "Trump in heels" and was also the person whom state republicans "maneuvered" the gubernatorial selection process to make sure Glenn Youngkin won, got her Trumpy heels handed to her by a bit more moderate candidate. The biggest upset came in Fairfax where long time Democrat Chap Peterson was defeated soundly. Peterson proudly displays a contrarian streak and partnered with Republicans to end mask mandates in schools. It was an extremely light turnout all over, but looks like more moderate voters are prevailing.
  17. Maybe we can erect stocks in Lafayette Square Park
  18. I just want two things out of Trump. 1) A written concession and a speech admitting that the 2020 election was indeed legitimate. 2) A promise that he will retire permanently from public life. No speeches, no interviews, no running for office. No meetings with public officials. He will be confined to his little bathroom in Florida.
  19. It's an old manager's trick. It doesn't matter who he plays, he'll get similar results. What he is left with is drawing names from a hat. Managers have been doing it since John McGraw. You can look it up
