  1. 2024 is a long time away and a lot can happen. While I love Michelle as a former first lady, I wonder why she would want to run. Personally I think she can be more successful as an influencer without the hassle of running for office.
  2. As my brother in law says, it's not Southern it's Appalachian
  3. My immediate take on Cruz is that ifbhe crumbles to the likes of Trump (Mafia Boss) and a wimpy talk show host like Carlson, what's he going to do with the likes of Putin or when he faces a real crises. I realize he's not up for election for a few years, but if I were running against him I'd hammer that home. Wimpy Ted. And I miss Melody
  4. Try growing to pre teen in Western Pa and then moving to SW Va. The transition from yintz to y'all, crick to creek.... And then there is chipped ham....
  5. RIP Sidney Poitier. One of the bests of the '60s and '70s
  6. Biden did express some concern about the Secret Service several days before 1/6. It's also fairly well known that several of Trump's agents were extremely loyal....
  7. Probably, most defiantly not
  8. They don't know much about history Nothing of all of biology Won't even talk about french they took? But they are great at trolling
  9. Has anyone verified MTG's whereabouts the night of Jan 5, 2021?
  10. I remember a conversation I had a couple of tears ago with a passenger at DTW who inquired about CNN being on the TV screens. I told him that the rights to the screens were put up for bid every few years. CNN was evidently the winning bid. He wasn't exactly pleased when I informed him that's how free enterprise works. (I later learned that CNN was the only company to place a bid)
  11. For grins I ran something similar. Matt Corral
  12. Take away his golf cart privileges for 4 years
  13. And increase the size of the House to an actual proportional size. For example if you used the same calculation for house members based on proportional population. California's delegation should be 68 members vs Wyoming's 1.
  14. Corporations are people too. Wasn't that the mantra of conservative corporative's not that long ago. Also affirmed by the Supreme Court when they ruled in favor of Clarence Thomas' wife in Citizen's United. Actually, the country has always had a history and problem with corporations. That's how unions gained some control back in the day. I would love to see public financing of campaigns. You get X amount of $$ and can spend no more. The Pols will always find a way around it. The reality is even with that there will always be lobbyists pimping for their overlords. I'm also in favor of bring back horse trading. And reinstalling stocks for offenders of election lawa.
  15. After getting a notice recently from our local cable ripoff, we've resorted to their most basic package. Internet (since they own the viable monopoly) and local channels. We're between two markets and towers are too far away to realistically pick up anything without a big antenna. We have a Roku and buying the usual suspects. Netflix, Prime, Disney. I think we're on a free Apple subscription with our phones. A donation to our local PBS affiliate gives us their on demand stuff... edit... Just the two of us, but we upgraded to their highest internet service. My wife's job keeps her on line most of the day so we needed the ability to stream.
  16. How many ended up staying in Texas because of the war with Mexico? My great great grandfather was alleged to have befriended a young Davey Crockett. He was also the first wagon-maker in McKeesport, Pa and reportedly had a contract to provide wagons to the US Army for the Mexican War. I've always assumed the Crockett connection led to the contract.
  17. Except it wasn't illegal to wear a tan suit or have a non white name.
  18. According to Wikipedia New Amsterdam was under Dutch control until 1664 until the British seized control of the harbor. The Dutch never sought to remain control preferring to keep sugar plantations in South America.
  19. But, But, Washington was a General...that name would never work. Maybe that's why Snyder wants out of his lease. He's moving them to Hampton Roads..
