  1. It’s fairly traditional but in Khaki
  2. That’s it I’m burning the new Tiger cap I bought last weekend while in town.
  3. July 12 Alpena’s greatest fire occurred July 12, 1872, when about fifteen acres were laid to waste, and upward of $175,000 worth of property destroyed. The number of buildings destroyed was not far from seventy. The heart of the city was destroyed, and scarcely a store remained on the south side of the river. But the people met the emergency with manful energy, and fine brick blocks were erected on the sites of the wooden buildings burned. Source : History of Alpena County, pp. 234-235. On this day in Chicago, the Detroit Tigers won the second game of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox by forfeit when an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 people swarmed out of the stands during a between games, anti-disco-music promotion and made the field unplayable. Detroit Tiger fans will also be glad to know that they won the first game of the double header too. Disco is dealt death blow by fans of the Chicago White Sox, History.com This Day in History (July 12, 1979). Phil Vettel, “Steve Dahl’s Disco Demolition at Comiskey Park”, Chicago Tribune.
  4. There’s enough mongrel in me I’m not sure where I’d end up. Germany (Bavaria) Ireland, Scotland? They’d probably decide I’m not worth the time and effort and just shoot me
  5. Love it when the scary woman puts MAGA in their place
  6. Seeing Jones out on the mound following that game is etched in my memories
  7. My feeling is that Epstein was a smart enough businessman not to keep an actual physical last. If there was something similar Ghislaine would be the one handling that sort of thing and once the investigation began the " list" would disappear. You would also think most of his clientele would also be discreet enough to avoid such a thing. (But then perverts are known to do stupid things when it comes to sex) Last thought on the subject, when did Donald Trump actually pay for ANYTHING?
  8. My favorite 2005 All Star memory was what didn’t happen. I went with my wife to the media party at Comerica. It was the last year she managed the team’s radio network. As we were leaving, she headed to the rest room while I took a seat on a nearby bench. This little old guy sat across from me and I kept thinking he looked familiar. Right after he left, it dawned on me, Earl Weaver. Maybe it was good I didn’t interact because I would have definitely brought up the 1971 and 1979 World Series. Back when I was a big Pirate fan
  9. Going to the Mets/KC game this evening and doing radar watching. Storms mostly to the north of us now but may hit around game time according to radar. A lot of Mets fans here for the game, or at least several at the Negro Leagues Museum

  19. I don't where to put this but MAGA is apparently losing it over the producer of the current Superman movie calling his character an immigrant, https://variety.com/2025/film/news/james-gunn-superman-immigrant-backlash-response-1236449068/ Hey MAGAMorons, this is a fictional character from a distant planet. What else do you call him? Did he clear customs. Is he here legally? Who cares...It's a movie, it's supposed to be entertaining,
