  1. Even with last year's finish... (meaning even if Cossa had a great finish instead...) I'm still perfectly fine having a Talbot/ Gibson tandem and making Cossa "PUSH" his way onto the Red Wings roster... Also... any nick of either Red Wings goalie hopefully calls up Cossa directly... so we can see if he is indeed ready to try and hold onto an NHL roster spot. He should have PLENTY of auditions, starting in training camp, for that roster spot. It also allows the Org to keep pushing Cossa for improvements... I hope the kid is doing everything he can to earn that spot. Just my 2 cents.
  2. If he adds a hard curveball to that he's going to be nasty....
  3. This is my POV. I want higher leverage pitchers for higher leverage playoff and WS innings. If we can get that far. I have no idea how cheaply we can get them or even if we can... They're not going to be cheap, but at a price that Harris feels he can work with...
  4. Two-way player but Wetwiska is a far better OF'er than pitcher... Just by the numbers...
  5. 5th round = Ryan Hall HS RH'er... 6'1"... Can we "grow" some of these guys...? I like my pitchers a couple inches taller...
  6. They do appear to be taking some heavy-developmental guys... Let's hope Harris and his scouts are right...
  7. This draft will be interesting to see 3/4 years out... See how these draftees grow (or not)... For those interested in following minor leaguers...
  8. If he's stealing at a success rate of 80%+, the Tigers should give him the "green light". They might not do that when he just breaks in... But I think they'll turn that light on sooner rather than later or never... IMO.
  9. The Nationals drafted Willets, FYI. Sorry, I ain't edman chas and I know you don't like seeing my posts... just a friendly fyi. The Angels drafted 21 y.o. college arm Tyler Bremner. Who could be a fast riser into MLB, possibly even this year based on Angels...
  10. Which means... The only SP help we should be looking for, if any, would have to be better than Mize-Montero-Olson-Flaherty... because we already have those guys and the rotation gets shortened in the playoffs anyways, as you've noted. We don't "NEED" SP help... But if the rare opportunity to add a true #2 starter were available, and at a cost that Harris approved... I would not be averse to adding that person. Because the above 4 are pitching like 3/4/5 starters (inconsistent, not reliably dominant, IMO). I don't know that anyone fitting that description is available anyways, so moot point. I'm just sayin'...
  11. I prefer them peppered rather than just later rounds. IMHO. Which they already did in rounds 1-3 btw (two position/ two pitchers...)
  12. I'd like them to be tied to a few more pitchers too...
  13. They MUST draft Jack Bauer!!! Jack Bauer or 24!!! errr... Jack Bauer or BUST!!!
  14. I would've liked to have taken a shot with Gage Wood however... He could make an MLB bullpen before the end of the year... and I wouldn't have minded that being with Detroit. He still has starter upside (no hitter 19K's his last start...); but he could begin his MLB career in the bullpen and I wouldn't shed any tears over that... But alas... Dombrowski and his Phillies are taking that shot...
  15. Well... Hmmm... Interesting... Check back in 4 years or so it looks like... So far.
  16. They're saying he wasn't even 2nd round consideration until late this year... I think the money will be much higher than he expected... I'm certain they've had conversations with him and his family on this already... and he'll sign for quite a bit under slot... Just guessing...
  17. I think we all will forget about this draft for 4 years and then wake up to see what surprises crop up... if any.
  18. Let's see who falls to 34...
  19. They're saying he has exceptional bat control, 1 K in 135 PA's this spring, excellent fielding SS, no power. Bursts speed to close in on fielding balls... hitting? bases?
  20. Hmmmm... Jordan Yost. Might be getting him at a cheap discount to slot value... on a WAG.
  21. Wood or de Brun? Or Summerhill?
  22. Crap. Neyens was the guy I wanted and Astros got him... Figures...
  23. 3 guys I'd rather choose than De Brun... With 4 selections to go... BTW: 1st 16 picks were 10 SS's and 6 pitchers... before an OF'er was taken at 17 by the Cubs...
