  1. Another cheap sign draftee to cover the HS'ers...?
  2. There are a few I think are worth the risk. Especially if we are talking 3rd round or later.
  3. Avila's closest looks like 2020 where he drafted Torkelson (MLB), Keith (on the verge), Flores (signed as undrafted after the 5-round draft) & Dingler (both still have some hope). I think Gage Workman and Danny Cabrera are washing out. Maybe Trei Cruz still has a hope & a prayer...?
  4. OK. Because otherwise I'm taking that as a personal insult. But just kidding is certainly ok... But also: I don't see where AA went all in on anything. That was a huge part of the problem. He half-arsed everything which led him to being shown the door. So I guess I still don't get the reference...
  5. And WTF is that supposed to mean?
  6. Dude... I'm going for broke...
  7. 1) Yes, expectations are playoffs. 2) No. Getting into the playoffs are hard, especially in the East. And the Wings are trying to break through a rebuild to get back to that level, haven't been there in a long time, so... No, if they miss, I'll assume it is either due to bad breaks or just, tough competition. What I really want to see is strong strides taken in that direction, even if 2023-24 ultimately isn't their year/ break-through.
  8. I'm going to amend that (personally, for myself...) to getting: a solid CF'er and a solid SS and 1 solid starter and 1 solid reliever = it's a major win.
  9. I think he works mid-90's and can reach upper (97) per the scouting reports... There's probably a small amount of projectability in there...
  10. PS: Wilson was ranked 51 by MLB...
  11. I was eyeing Sykora but Wilson also has a really nice profile. Upper 90's lefty with excellent breaking pitches and a little inconsistent in mechanics which could/ should be ironed out. 6' 3" too as I like pitchers bigger rather than undersized....
  12. Currently I would think those two are on the September call-up path...
  13. Dingler too... But he's currently on the Jake Rogers track... I was hoping for a bit more Piazza there... at least on offense...
  14. If Campos could make a major push... That might even out some of the lefty-righty imbalance...
  15. There is some serious HS pitching talent on the board right now... but most will be able to demand a huge signing bonus or they'll go to college... If drafting Anderson in the 2nd gets us one of those pitchers in the 3rd... Then I am now on board with drafting him in the 2nd in order to obtain said, potential, 3rd rounder. I am not right now enthused about his selection. Get me a good pitcher, I will be.
  16. The flipside is that when those guys are getting more expensive... You're bringing in cheaper guys like Clark/ McGonigle. Also, Keith/ Meadows/ Malloy etc. are a few years behind the 1st wave. So we'll have roughly 3 waves of rookies/ more expensive contracts on the horizon, a few years apart each... That seems more manageable...
  17. At least we're all in the same boat...!
  18. This makes me feel a bit better about Professor McGonigle. I was ok with the pick but wasn't feeling any high-end skills... this says there are more high-end skills than we may have realized...
  19. PS: I also like the makings of our 4th line with Kostin-Veleno-Sprong...
  20. I don't see the 2nd and 3rd lines being incompetent 2023-24. You have Copp, Compher, Raymond, Rasmussen, Soderblom, Fabbri, Kasper, Berggren, and maybe even Mazur pushing for time on these lines. Probably 2 and maybe even 3 of those guys are in Grand Rapids... But I don't see ineptness taking over those lines this year. I see competition and competence leading to effectiveness... IMO.
  21. That's what I'm thinking more than anything else. I guess. They needed to save money here though...? I don't really see that either, to be honest...
  22. Overall... I'm not digging this draft...
  23. That's why I asked because I agree with this 100%. The two will be split up and won't be on the same line. PS: I could see Perron and Ras as the PF on each line. I'm thinking Perron will start out on Larkin's line though...
  24. One of Yohandy Morales or Walker Martin will be available at 37... I'd be pleased with either one...
  25. We have two picks coming up at 37 and 45... Split 'em.
