  1. I don't think we NEED to trade away Soto or Lange or Eduardo... However... If it's "an offer we can't refuse", then I'm on board.
  2. It's not a rebuild. It's a Repair & Fix 'em back up job.
  3. Just as an aside... Wasn't it 10 years $295 mill? I thought he was trying to keep under a $30 mill AAV if I remember correctly. My memory sucks though... but I thought it was $295 mill?
  4. Not even April. We already HAVE a boatload of high draft picks. We don't need to be on a 5-year draft & development timeframe because those guys are ALREADY HERE (I'm not bagging on you Longgone... I know it's not you making these statements, it's others on the board... I was just using your post because of the April timing... I have a different theory on that): Harris and Hinch and all the other king's men they hired need to fix broken parts first. Because if they were ALL miraculously fixed - Mize, Manning, Skubal, Eduardo, Faedo, Wentz, Brieske, Lange, Soto, Rogers, Torkelson, Greene, Matthews, Baez, Carpenter, Baddoo, Kreidler - and with a second wave coming shortly (Olson, Madden, Dingler, Keith, Wenceel, Parker, Malloy)... they would have at least the BEGINNINGS of a competitive team. But a lot of these guys... I don't think we know what we have/ don't have/ has been fixed... until the END of next season. In September 2023... I'll tell you what kind of team we have for 2023, where the holes are, and where/ how I think Harris fixes those holes. Just my 2 cents.
  5. 2. Ilitch spent on Eduardo and Baez last year, and others, when it looked like we might break through. All this whining about Chris not spending is total BS. When the team is competitive and ready to make a move to win playoff games, he'll spend. He's already proven that. 3. These free agents aren't siding and roofing. For the most part. They are mostly sheds and outhouses. Again, all the whining about not spending money on bandaids, outhouses, sheds and busted condoms is ridiculous. I wouldn't spend money on this team even if it was someone else's money. Bandaids (Boyd and Lorenzen) to cover booboos, fine. But the primary purpose in 2023 is to fix all our broken parts - pitchers, prospects, hitting and development coaches. And Harris sifting through waiver wires and other inexpensive pickups to see if he can find a few parts that can stick. That's it. When they get everything fixed and we can figure out who is a building block and who is not (and can be traded away) and what holes need to be filled in 2024 (NOT 2023...), then we can talk about spending money in the offseason 2023-24. I don't see it happening this offseason and furthermore I don't see any REASON to spend this offseason. I fully expect us to make a run at the Playoffs in 2024... so at that point (next offseason) I would be looking to shop. And it might be trades shopping, not FA shopping. We'll see. But 2023 is a lost season. Get used to it, because that's not changing. And no FA signing is going to change that either.
  6. Good loss. Buddha... I'm reading that as, since he got the surgery, that he will be back around May-ish able to work out and get back into basketball shape... that's more than 12 weeks from now...
  7. Ron Da' Cheap Knock-Off.
  8. I want to be more rude than that... I'm thinking of... : Cheap Knock-Off Trumplet.
  9. Gotta evolve with the times though... He ain't president no more and DeSanctimonious is stealin' his thunder! Time to turn to The Looooooooord!!!!
  10. Speaking of which... Why doesn't he just become a Preacher of the Prosperity Bible and straight up bilk people. With his "showmanship". He wouldn't have to pretend to be a businessman or a politician anymore. He could just straight up tell everyone "the Loooooord Loooooves me and he wants you to give me all of your money". He could make MAGA Millions into his pocket. And it's legal !!!
  11. Obviously I DON'T know what the joke is... Want to enlighten?
  12. Myles Murphy is also a terror at DE, I wouldn't trade out if he were still on the board. He'd be a 3rd place finish after Carter & Anderson, which would suck... But I'm not trading down if he's on the board at our pick.
  13. Why is half the board spelling Sean McVAY as McVEY? His name is McVAY. Here's his wikipedia page if you don't believe me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_McVay Or is this some kind of insider joke that I am missing...?
  14. Wait a second... Is she your wife or your ex-wife?
  15. Someone suggested some Dark Brandon trading cards. That would be more appealing than those ridiculous TFG shit cards... But I'd ALSO like to know who actually is going to pay $99 for those 10 cent cards... and how many of those sets are actually sold. That could engender a really good laugh in and of itself.
  16. It takes a village...
  17. Politico thinks it is Fred Upton who the Dems and centrist Republicans are settling on under this plan: https://www.politico.com/minutes/congress/12-2-2022/mccarthy-upton-speaker/ Three guesses on how TFG reacted: Politico this week reported on whispers among moderate Republicans and Democrats about joining together and nominating outgoing Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) as House Speaker should Republican hardliners sabotage McCarthy's bid. Even though Upton is retiring as a congressman and did not seek a new term in office, the Speaker of the House of Representatives does not have to be an actively serving representative. While it is currently not certain how serious the chatter about drafting Upton to lead the House of Representatives is, it was enough to trigger Trump into angrily denouncing the idea. "Rep. Fred Upton, a Pro-Impeachment RINO, would be a disaster....". No need to read the rest of his commentary.
  18. I don't mind Bojan & Burks putting up big numbers for the Pistons, regardless whether it's a win or a loss... I think those guys can teach the kids how to make winning plays/ shots/ etc. Where it gets gratifying is when the kids play a really nice game too, so, I know the Hornets are at the bottom with us, but it's nice to see good games from Killian, Stewart, Duren, and even Knox contribute to getting a win (and not just Bojan & Burks...).
  19. Now... I'm not trying to be facetious or sarcastic... I actually meant what I said... In a more serious tone...
  20. Here's my analysis: I watched Goff in several games the past few weeks... The dude can throw! And get scores (lots of 'em) for the Lions! Good enough for me! Any numbers prior to this year are moot. Including his better 2017-18 numbers.
  21. I seriously do NOT believe that the current Lions management is going to make their decision based on... "Is our QB on a rookie wage scale"?
  22. The problem with this type of analysis is... Was Goff steadily getting worse each year, or was his supporting cast getting worse each year dragging his numbers down? I don't think you can separate the two which in my mind makes the analysis moot. The only two criteria in my mind is: right now, is he an effective QB for the team the Lions have built? Can the Lions win with him (including playoff games and Supers if we are so fortunate)?
  23. I think Goff is the QB of NOW and the NEAR future. But that "near" future could be just for next year, or it could be for the next 3-5 years. I believe this is the unknown that is causing our dilemma. He obviously can run this offense. He obviously can produce high-scoring games for us. Lions management is obviously bought into him as their starting QB. The unknowns are: A) Does he falter if his O-Line and/or receivers diminish? He's done this in the past... but, if Holmes keeps those shelves stocked then, maybe it's just a moot point and not really a consideration. B) Can he win the Big Game? He got to the Big Game with a loaded Rams team, and could possibly do that if the Lions get loaded up. But he didn't win the Super Bowl, and McVay believes Goff had weaknesses where he couldn't handle adversity and improvise game-winning plays. Complete unknown to us (maybe it's true? maybe he's improved on that? doesn't look like it, but...?) and the cause of desiring a more talented QB. C) He's not the most talented QB. He does falter some under pressure. And make mistakes/ turnovers. He's a gifted game manager maybe, but is that it? Also, he's expensive compared to getting in a rookie contract QB. So... just how invested are the Lions in him anyways? I guess we'll find out soon enough. All of these issues are going to be rampant in our debates until... they actually draft the "future" QB of the Lions. This year or in any ensuing year. (I'll forego the possibility of trading for an existing NFL QB/ signing a FA QB for now...). And I have no answers to the questions I've raised above. I'm willing to give Goff some time at the helm. And I will have patience. At least until he loses a key game (). but I think I am primarily going to trust Holmes/ Campbell's judgement and, if they draft Stroud or any other QB in this draft, or none at all, I'll just take it from there...
  24. If the Fed wants to get slower wage increases... They need to talk the 6 million or so Pandemic Early Retirees back into the workforce because those refuseniks are a main source of the super-tight labor market... AKA rapid wage expansion due to employer competition for the remaining scarce and available workers. In fact, companies are being reduced to poaching workers with bonuses and higher salary offers from other companies, and not from headhunters supplying available (in-between-jobs) workers...
