  1. The crowds at CPAC have a 1994-1998 era Tiger Stadium-tuesday-night-in-mid-April feel to them. If this is any indication of the enthusiasm in the land for Matt Schlapp and his fake teeth gropy support for Trump...they have a long way to go to recapture that magic pre 1/6/2021.
  2. The tea leaves of the last 24 hours indicate some dramatic shift at the top in China. I'm very enthusiastic that we do not have a war. That said...the usual cautions are prescribed.
  3. Well, they didn't fly the camel through the eye of the needle last night. Their road got harder.
  4. She’s AOK
  5. No kidding. These people have way more power than they would if this were a functioning democracy.
  6. Breitbart I'd hope would break with the nutters. I had seen some essayists who purported to know his thinking on Trump. this was in the wikipedia page for Breitbart These comments resurfaced after the controversy of Donald Trump hiring Breitbart News' executive chairman Steve Bannon to be his White House Chief Strategist.[41]
  7. Won't they just decriminalize that?
  8. Drudge is hammering away at Matt Schlapp with headline "Inside Gaylord: CPAC Schlapp dodges groping question..." Ya see Matt Drudge who happens to be gay (so one presumes a bit of insulation for being bitchy) and he is using the name of the hotel where CPAC circus is being held which is the Gaylord Hotel. Drudge's turn on the Trumpies has been interesting. Closer to Andrew Breitbart's vision than the vile Bannon Leninism. Breitbart hated bullies.
  9. did China make a call? Those lights might be off on purpose
  10. This is really interesting because Kazakhstan is really China's target. They want to ship everything to Europe via them.
  11. Holy crap! Blinken from the top of the turnbuckle!
  12. Listened briefly to my wife and her college girlfriends dispersed around the country on their zoom call last night. The one who is a teacher in Florida was practically crying about how bad the governor has been. BTW, when I look at Desantis I see Dukakis.
  13. Meanwhile this is the best era of Michigan football since possibly the 1940s.
  14. For sure. During that period when we were embargoing the Japanese Lend Lease to Britain was less popular than aid to Ukraine currently is. America does not favor butchers.
  15. He read about America's favorite big bootys in the official training documents in the American willage
  16. Man, can you imagine all that oil lucre that Texas A&M can funnel to a football team? Texas has that plus technology money. Meanwhile, poor impoverished B1G teams are just scrapping by with their do-nothing alumni not giving a crap at all about sport success. :--)
  17. might be it was harbaugh was the issue. Maybe some blood between Lloyd and Jim? or, if it was Weiss then maybe
  18. This is the sort of thing that could lead to a wider war. I'm saying that I hope China makes the right decision and doesn't put us on the treadmill to direct conflict. Thinking in terms of the embargoes on the Japanese that drove them to Pearl Harbor. That we embargoed them was a well-meaning effort to correct a foreign bad actor short of conflict. But, it ratcheted up things to the point where they chose to attack. Meanwhile, Putin is paying his stooges to say we shouldn't care about his atrocities. Yeah, ok.
  19. Da, sport is important
  20. Because old school republicans were part of a national security consensus based on collective security in partnership with allied governments based on principles of the Atlantic Charter agreed upon by a Democrat President and a British Tory Prime Minister. They old school republicans who help found the bulwark of democracies in the Cold War were former isolationists like Michigan Senator Arthur Vandenberg who helped solidify the Truman Doctrine, the Marshall Plan and NATO. But to the pro-Putin MAGAs these are all just impediments to getting more up Putin's ass.
  21. Yeah but Tucker Carlson is working hard to make everyone forget that
  22. The Biden policy of fighting this war in Ukraine is exactly what could have happened if the British and French had backed Czechoslovakia over the Sudetenland. We could have slowed Germany down and prevented the fall of France. It would have bought time for the allies to rearm (like we are doing now) so we are ready for Taiwan and any further moves by Putin. Biden, Blinken, Sullivan, Milley, Austin know their business. But, really this is on Biden who has literally more foreign policy knowledge in his pinky than Donald Trump has in his entire bloated corpus.
  23. Can you imagine getting up in the morning and rooting for Putin? How hard must that be?
