I’m pretty sure the Wings have lost 9 straight road games, with the last win being the Kane show in Chicago. 0 for 5 on a road trip, loss to Pitt, loss to Nashville, OT loss to Washington.
Haven’t baseball seasons started on Thursdays forever? Or maybe I’m just remembering home openers. Opener on Thursday, off day on Friday in case you have to re-schedule the opener for weather. I do call some seasons kicking off in Cincinnati on Sunday night and then rest of the league Monday or Tuesday, but I think that was quite awhile ago.
Yeah, 9th place will be a failure, IMO. Maybe that matches or is even a bit higher than most pre-season predictions, but have to look at where the Wings were at the All-Star Break and what they had shown they could do the first 2/3 of the season.
Flyers do indeed lose in OT so don't gain ground on the Wings. They are 3 pts up, the Wings have a game in hand. Philly's schedule is getting easier though.
I don’t know what the odds sites say, but I would say that with a regulation win tonight I’d give the Wings a 45% chance of making the playoffs. 20% with a regulation loss.
I'm surprised there are so many 21-23 year olds in the NHL this season, at least as backups. Cossa will be 21 and 10 months next training camp so is ready to be given a shot.
