I've seen about 25 Springsteen concerns over the past 40 years in various cities across Canada and the U.S. as well as in France. Have been to Asbury Park too. I'd suggest starting with the Born To Run album front to back. If you like that, I can give you a whole bunch of directions to jump into. If you don't like that, you'll at least be now familiar with what is considered by most (not all) to be his greatest album and four of his best-regarded songs (Born to Run, Thunder Road, Backstreets, Jungleland). As for politics, it doesn't make me think either more or less of him, I'm there for the music only, but I have found that at the concerts at which he makes a 1 minute rant against GWB in 2004 or now Trump in Europe 2025 it tends to bring the vibe in the arena down compared to when he doesn't.
