  1. 8-2 homestand against three 2024 playoff teams.
  2. Boston socking it to the Guardians, 8-0.
  3. 11Ks for Skubal through 6.
  4. Michigan’s incoming QB recruit Bryce Underwood threw out the first pitch. I wonder if he is related to former Tiger pitcher, Pat Underwood 🙂
  5. I’ve been wrapping up my taxes this weekend in advance of Canada’s April 30 filing deadline. Writing a fat check to the CRA sure doesn’t give me nice thoughts about Ottawa, that’s for sure.
  6. I’d prefer a throw out. Position players throw off the mound with the goal of getting the ball past the opposing catcher. Ball can be no farther off the plate than the far sides of the batter boxes and can’t be over the catcher’s head. Bounces are allowed.
  7. Rarer than a perfect game. He's the 19th player to hit 4 home runs in a game. There have been 24 official (ahem) perfect games pitched.
  8. Leafs fail to score on 4 minute powerplay in OT. Sens go on to win. Could be a series turning point? Or at least make Leafs fans sweat for a few days
  9. Pretty good video quality for 1914.
  10. I was interested to see how the 2006 Tigers were at this point. They were 18-9 and then 20-13 and then we really turned it on after that.
  11. I jogged “with” Pope John Paul II for around 7km down University Ave on his visit to Toronto in 1984. As in, I followed alongside his Popemobile on foot. Then attended a big Polish Mass at Exhibition Stadium that evening. Rumor had it he was going to make an impromptu visit by helicopter to my dad’s hometown of Wilno in the Ottawa Valley, Canada’s first Polish settlement, but the locals were left hanging like with the Great Pumpkin so made their way to the Wilno Tavern instead for bigos and Zywiec.
  12. First time since 1911 the Tigers swept a doubleheader on the same day as a pope’s funeral.
  13. So we now have Hendan Hooker and Ahmed “Hookah” Hassanein on the same time.
  14. I yelled at him through my tv to NOT try for the out at home.
  15. Tigers record: 16W 10L Dodgers’ record: 16W 10L The win keeps the Tigers 1/2 ahead of the Guardians for the best record in the AL. 2 games behind the Mets for the best record in MLB.
  16. 3-hit game for Javy.
  17. X isn’t exactly a source of measured commentary at the best of times, but I was watching the game with a friend last night and immediately after the decision to challenge we pulled up X to see the reaction. It did not disappoint.
  18. It took me 20 seconds to figure out that the woman from the Eiffel Tower was speaking English not French.
  19. I went to a couple of twinight doubleheaders in 1984-1986 when I had just gotten my license and was still living at home. I'd eat dinner at home during the first couple of innings of the 1st game, hop in the car in Sarnia and drive to the game while listening to Ernie and Paul, that would take around 65-75 minutes or 4 innings or so, I'd get to my seat in the 7th or 8th, watch the end of Game 1, get my bearings and a dog during the break between games, then settle in for Game 2. Sometimes I'd leave Game 2 in the 7th inning and listen to the rest of the game in the car on the way home.
  20. Looks like it.
  21. Habs starting goalie Montembeault knocked out of Game 3 with injury. Backup Dobes in net. But in case he gets hurt too, a Montreal cop has suited up as emergency backup.
  22. ESPN.com Pre-Draft Analysis Ratledge started 37 games at right guard, and his workout at the combine was impressive. He fires off the ball, knocks defenders back and stays connected in the run game. Ratledge keeps his base intact and covers linebackers when he releases to the second level. He's quick with the range to excel in zone-heavy schemes with improved footwork. Defenders can get into his frame initially, but he tends to work his big hands back inside and latches on as a pass blocker. He moves his feet, and he is tough to beat once he's in position. Ratledge packs a powerful punch and keeps his head on a swivel to work against stunts from the defensive line. -- Steve Muench Post-Draft Analysis If you asked before the draft what an ideal pick would be for Detroit in Round 2, this would have been the answer. Ratledge is an easy-moving right guard with big-time power on the point of impact in the run game. He also has the recovery agility to hold up in pass protection. The Lions need a right guard after Kevin Zeitler departed to the Titans in free agency, and they landed a battle-tested SEC starter. Ratledge will certainly see the field as a rookie with his impressive toughness and experience. -- Miller
  23. Will Johnson to the Cards.
