  1. Here’s the Bears’ chance to score TDs on consecutive possessions on both sides of halftime to tie the game.
  2. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/montreal-canadiens-are-no-1-in-tsn-s-annual-nhl-team-ranking-of-u-24-players-1.2207606 TSN's annual NHL team ranking of U-24 players. Wings rise from #6 last year to #3 this year, behind Montreal and San Jose and just ahead of New Jersey and Minnesota Players are labeled AAA (superstar), AA (elite), A (No. 1 goalie, top-pair defenceman, first-line forward) or B (tandem goalie, top-four defenceman, top-six forward) or C (backup goalie, depth defenceman, bottom-six forward). Examples of other established NHL players under 24 who they peg as "AA" like Seider and Raymond include Cole Caulfield, Luke Hughes, Brock Faber, Tim Stutzle, and Owen Power. The only "AAA"s on their list seem to be Celebrini, Jack Hughes and Bedard.
  3. Flames announcers vehemently opposed to the call. "Yeah, technically, there are too many men on the ice, but in a way that's hardly ever called".
  4. Wings with a golden opportunity, thanks to Calgary taking a too many men on the ice penalty
  5. Bad icing call. DeBrincat was winning that race. Edit: Switched to a centre ice faceoff, OK
  6. I'll be content taking chances with shootout. Wings must have the least threatening 3 on 3 setup in the league.
  7. Off to overtime. I really want this extra point. Sloth is right, both teams are pretty bad, but I think the Wings have been a little less bad than Calgary tonight.
  8. Flames finally break through with 9 seconds left in the powerplay. That stings.
  9. Larkin charged with a "faceoff violation" penalty?? Yuck. Ill-timed. 4 1/2 minutes to go.
  10. Wings actually half-decent so far in the 3rd. Even cycling in the Calgary zone, lol.
  11. 1-0 Wings after 2 Long way to go tonight, but if the Wings can pull out a win and enter Thanksgiving 10-10-2, they should pinch themselves that they haven’t wrecked their season yet given the way they’ve played almost all of the nights.
  12. My regular bar makes a time adjustment in comment because I told them I might miss 3 Lions touchdowns if they don’t open until 10am (1pm ET)
  13. The only thing that makes me feel not too bad about missing out on Montgomery is Montgomery's existing ties to St. Louis, having been an assistant there. Yzerman might never had much of a chance on that one.
  14. Edvinsson’s ENG in the dying seconds finishes off a 4-2 Wings win. Isles must be kicking themselves.
  15. Dennis Cholowski playing in his 14th game of the seasons for NYI. I didn’t know he was still in the NHL.
  16. Another 3rd period comeback versus the Isles. Raymond gives the Wings the lead.
  17. 2-1 NYI after 2. This is an opponent the Wings are actually capable of defeating, so can’t let another 2 pts slip away.
  18. Carolina is down to their 3rd string goalie and looking. Offer them their choice of Lyon or Talbot and call up Cossa to back up the one who stays?
  19. Yep, that could make sense. I forgot to embed the Twitter post that prompted my question.
  20. And another time last night, Philly stopped LA on 3rd down inside the 5 and seemed to initially decline the offensive holding penalty. Then when LA lined up to go for it on 4th down, Philly ended up accepting the penalty (broadcast explanation was that perhaps Siriani never actually declined the penalty and it may have just been the refs assuming he would decline it- still, seemed like a too-long 30-second lag).
  21. Lions are a better team and playing much better than they were this time last year. Last Thanksgiving, they were in the midst of a 4-3 stretch that included a blowout loss at Baltimore, a defense-free wild win over the Chargers, the improbable comeback win over the Bears after a 57-minute dud, the Thanksgiving spanking by Green Bay that wasn't as close as the 7-point final score suggests, and a spanking at Chicago.
  22. I think it has been like that in Canada for about 20 years now. With the exception of an arena in Quebec City that opened nine years ago and is underutilized, almost all funding for new builds and renos has been from private investors and commercial lenders. Now and then you'll see a team be able to wrangle a new highway exit or something like that from provincial funds. Edit: Actually, screw that. Turns out Edmonton's arena of a few years ago was half-funded by the city. How did that happen? No appetite for that in Vancouver I know. https://www.edmonton.ca/attractions_events/rogers_place/the-agreement
  23. That’s a very good point. A Bears OT win yesterday over the Vikings would have been golden, with the Lions then being able to effectively wrap up the division if they beat Chicago and Green Bay the next two Thursdays.
