If I understand correctly, the tiebreaker in the event of a 3-way tie between Penn St., Ohio St. and Michigan is the combined record of their West conference opponents. Essentially a B1G strength of schedule. I believe Michigan is two games behind Penn St at this point, with Iowa's good record helping Penn St. and losses by Nebraska and Minnesota last weekend hurting Michigan.

Michigan’s not getting in without beating Penn St AND Ohio State. I think it was the case even before the sign stuff, but no chance now for a 1-loss Michigan that doesn’t even win the division. Could probably afford a loss to Maryland or the BIG championship game if they beat the two top 10 teams.

Seems to be. I’ll try to find and post a link to what I’ve read.

Especially since if you ask most people what was Stalion’s clearest violation , it was being on the CMU sideline. But it appears that he was there on behalf of CMU, rather than crashing in secret. In other words, he was a CMU staffer who probably later fed sign information to Michigan about MSU that he picked up during the game. In that care, Michigan’s CMU source is equivalent to Purdue’s OSU and Rutgers sources.

Haha, poor Schiano, he's just trying to focus on playing the game. Who wanted to talk about this? Michigan's side was content to leave it to the NCAA and have it play out during the offseason. But noooooooo.... https://sports.yahoo.com/ticked-off-greg-schiano-responds-182117577.html “Look I’m getting ready to go play the 22nd-ranked team in the country, at their place,” Schiano said. “They are, I think 12-3 in their last 15 games, they’re 15-1 in the month of November. I can tell you that I’m very confident with the way we handle our business. I’m not going to get into specifics on something that is not my issue. Let the people handle it whose issue it is.” Schiano, though, did express frustration that Rutgers has now been swept up in the scandal. “Quite honestly I’m a little bit ticked off that we have to talk about this,” Schiano said. “This is not our problem.”

I never get sense it was the unanimous or that even Thamel claimed that. I wonder how it works. Did they do a show of hands at last week’s meeting, Pettit felt he had enough votes to punish, told Michigan that this weekend, and now they formally lock in the votes this week at some point?

Jerry Rogers was dirty! Back in the '70s. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0531122/ Storyline While Marcia is hanging posters advertising Westdale High's upcoming "massacre" of Fairview High at this weekend's league championship football game, she is approached by Jerry Rogers, the quarterback of Fairview's team. To Jerry, asking Marcia out on a date is more important than school loyalty, or so he tells her. What she doesn't know is that Jerry is trying to gain access to any secret that Greg, Westdale's halfback, may have lying around to assist in Fairview beating Westdale, most specifically the Westdale playbook. Bobby does see Jerry trying to steal Greg's playbook, which Marcia does not believe or want to believe. To test what Bobby claimed to have seen, Greg, with Marcia's knowledge, leaves a fake playbook lying around to see what becomes of it. Meanwhile, in the lead up to the big game, Carol is expecting a visit from Tank Gates, her high school sweetheart from her days at Westdale. Tank was the star quarterback who went on to play pro football. As Carol extols the virtue of Tank, Mike begins to feel a little inferior. What Mike eventually learns is that Tank doesn't try to make others feel inferior, but make himself appear superior.

Yeah, these could be considered garbage time goals, but the Wings dominated the 3rd, including the remaining minutes after they made it 5-3. Alas, that's the final score. Loss.
-
5-3! Copp closes the gap with 6 minutes to go.
-
Wings get on the board with a couple of goals. Ben Chiarot with assists on both of them. 5-2 Rangers with 7+ minutes to go.
-
Wings' first real stinker of the year. Four goals in 7 minutes makes it 5-0 for the Ravens, I mean Rangers.

Canadian Football League. Michigan Wolverines vs the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Depends on how the shared signs data was sourced. If, say, an Illinois low level staffer or fan, with Illinois having just played Michigan, sent a low level staffer of another team info about Michigan’s signs, that info almost certainly would have been sourced in-person. Stalions only had friends go watch games. If other teams effectively had personnel from other teams do the in-person scouting, that’s arguably worse. Maybe they didn’t use electronic means. Or less likely, maybe they didn’t do in-person scouting, maybe their equal at another school said “in advance of our game against Michigan, we pored over publicly available game tape and were able to figure out enough about Michigan’s signs, and we can save you the trouble of having to do so before you play them next week”

https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-ncaa-revealed-michigan-findings-to-big-ten-conference-mulling-jim-harbaugh-suspension-212327599.html The NCAA’s findings do not connect the in-person scouting and recording of opponents’ sidelines to Harbaugh, sources say, an absence of evidence essential to a potential lawsuit from the school and coach against the league.

Big 1, Little 13.

I'm glad it's an AP story, rather than Bacon or Webb. Surely not even ESPN can ignore and not pick it up.
-
"was his job to steal signs and he was given details from multiple league schools to compile a spreadsheet of play-calling signals used by Michigan last year" Thank God no Michigan player got injured because of this. We've been told the past 2 weeks that sign stealing is a dangerous practice that jeopardizes the health and safety of football players and the health and safety of guys on the Spartans.

Good thread on Mgoblog speculating whether CMU's head coach was bamboozled as well. The pic of Connor Stalions (we all know it's him) on the CMU sidelines really gave this story legs, put a face to the story. But if he was there to scout MSU's signs, why not do it from behind the MSU bench instead of from the opposite sideline. Unless he was there not to help Michigan, but to use his MSU data to help CMU. How does Central get out of this one?

I guess it will depend on whether the ADs and president believe Harbaugh truly was blindsided by the revelations. If so, they know it could happen to them just as easily, any investigator worth their salt should be able to come up with some dirt on any of the other 13 schools. If on the other hand they have evidence Harbaugh, or at least senior assistant coaches, knew about it and there is only implausible deniability, then they might be comfortable that their own programs are clean enough to avoid getting caught in a chaotic loop of investigations and counter-investigations.

I'm SHOCKED Brad Marchand would do that.
-
I would take Florida St (or Washington or Texas) as a semi final opponent in a heartbeat over Oregon, Alabama or an Ohio State rematch.
-
Crap, Vikings take lead with 21 seconds to do. Game would have been over if Dobbs hadn’t been able to scramble for a 1st down on 4th and 7 a few plays ago. The NFC North is still in play, this will be Minnesota’s 4th straight win.
-
Falcons take the lead right before the 2 minute warning.
-
Falcons offense has turned it over on two straight possessions, maybe a third depending on this fumble challenge. Vikings up by a field goal beginning the 4th quarter.
