  1. Believe it or not, Billy was not the first Heisman-winning running back from the University of Oklahoma to be drafted by the Lions and rush for a 1,000 yard season before injuries shortened his career. Steve Owens a decade earlier. But I have no recollection of him, as I was born in '67 and didn't attend my first Lions game until '76. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/189273-oklahoma-sooner-legend-steve-owens
  2. There was a memorable swipe of a Gatorade table too at some point. Can't believe he only played 5 seasons with the Lions for a 60-game NFL career. When you're young, it feels so much longer.
  3. Would be nice to see the Lions smartly take care of business against the Bears in the afternoon, and then sit back and see whether Denver can carry this momentum back home against the Vikings in prime time.
  4. Fittingly, week finishes with yet another last second FG. Denver missed the original kick but got a mulligan because Buffalo had 12 men on the field.
  5. Take him seriously, but not literally.
  6. Speaking of the defensive backfield, during the gameday thread I think I read a couple of people speculating whether or not Branch was injured or something I haven’t heard anything like that post-game though, so was it just people looking for an explanation as to why the Lions were getting lit up?
  7. They should send up a guy with a goatee and shades to accept it.
  8. I’m a bit surprised by the national narrative on Sunday that the Wolverines ran run after run against a top run defense and were unstoppable. No, they were actually stopped time and again and kept giving the ball back. It was successful at eating up minutes and the bet that Penn St’s feeble offense wouldn’t be able to capitalize on possessions did pay off. Michigan won the game. Thanks to the defense getting a late 4th down stop in Penn State that Michigan’s running finally turned Into big yardage and a score on the next play. This was not like the 2nd half of the 2021 OSU game when the running game truly was unstoppable on multiple long scoring drives.
  9. Exactly what I was wondering. Either way, I will be disappointed in anything less than 5-0 the next five games against Chicago x2, Green Bay, Denver, and New Orleans. It’s the NFL, chances are the Lions will lose at least one of those games, but will be heavily favoured in all. @Chargers was the toughest game on the post-bye schedule apart from @Cowboys and arguably @Vikings.
  10. Eagles are 8-1 and the Chiefs and Lions are 7-2. Every other team in the NFL has 3 or more losses.
  11. I went back and replaced that clip with the same call without the popping noise. And here is the tail end of the call of Brock Wright’s TD that had given the Lions a 38-31 lead. Wright Makes it 38-31.m4a
  12. And Seattle’s FG unit just made it 5.
  13. Dan Miller’s radio call of the winning kick Last Second FG Beats Chargers.m4a
  14. Will never get a batter chance to win it than this 40:yard FG attempt.
  15. I’m assuming the Lions will get the 1st down on 3rd down. Let’s see!
  16. 2 minute warning. Get one 1st down and milk the clock for a FG.
  17. I think Aaron Glenn is already busy coaching USC on Saturdays.
  18. If this game gets to overtime it will be the most decisive coin flip ever.
  19. Touchdown. After it looked like they were doing the Lions a favour by not just sneaking it.
  20. The Lions are going to have to be bailed out by a Charger drop on 3rd or 4th down.
  21. I thought I heard whistles on that 4th down play. 31-31.
  22. That was a chintzy penalty call. Still not in. 3rd and goal. 4th and goal!
