  1. Looks like another 4-1 loss, but the Wings played pretty well after the 1st period. Jack Edwards even sounded nervous at times in the 3rd period.
  2. Wings were coming on hard until a really chintzy penalty shot call. Pasternak convers, 3-1 Bruins with 8 minutes to go.
  3. Wings have life. Veleno roofed one
  4. Good thing the Wings banked points with a hot start. Still no match for the elites. 2-0 Bruins after 2.
  5. In a sign of solidarity, USC proceeded to give up 28 first half points to Cal.
  6. I was the opposite. Listened to the first three innings on Rangers radio and then watched off and on until the 7th. Then it slipped my mind until I thought oops, I may have missed the end so better check in. Happy to see it was still on, with 1 on and 1 out in the 9th.
  7. It is unfortunate how “post-season records” have been watered down with extra rounds, but Adolis Garcia is having a post-season for the ages. 22 RBIs after that home run.
  8. An opposite field walkoff homer for the Rangers. Neat-o.
  9. 2-run homer for the Rangers ties it in bottom of the 9th.
  10. 4-1 after an ENG. Score line looks dismal, and taking only 1 of 4 points from Seattle and Winnipeg at home is disappointing, but the Wings outplayed the Jets much of the game.
  11. Jets make it 3-1 against the flow of play.
  12. Wings buzzing late in the 2nd, tying goal imminent?
  13. Wings will need to play from behind again. Two late goals. 2-0 Winnipeg. Does Reimer always look so odd when pucks get by him?
  14. Perron gets penalized 11 seconds in. That’s as fast as I’ve ever seen, except when thugs drop the gloves in the opening faceoff circle.
  15. It’s Stars Wars Night at the LCA. I may be the only guy born in 1967 who has never seen that original Star Wars movie of 1977. Probably none of the subsequent movies either (I vaguely recall being in a theatre watching Empire Strikes Back, but maybe was just a trailer).
  16. Home vs the Jets is a winnable game, but I think the Wings are due for a letdown game (the Seattle game wasn’t it, they played well enough to win) and am afraid this might be it.
  17. Ironmen who never get injured.
  18. Jim Stapleton Resigns- July 12, 2004 Tigers VP/Marketing & Business Affairs JIM STAPLETON, the "highest ranking African-American business executive" in MLB, has resigned after three seasons with the club, according to Terry Foster of the DETROIT NEWS. Stapleton said that he will "devote more time to his private business interests" and "thanked [Tigers Owner MIKE] ILITCH and the organization for making him a historic hire more than three years ago." Stapleton, on being a high-ranking African-American in baseball: "That is something I am proud of, but sadly, I have to give it up at this point." Foster reports a "significant business venture involving Stapleton is expected to be announced soon." Stapleton "has maintained control of his consulting firm, B&R Consultants," and he will also continue on the Univ. of Michigan athletic department board (DETROIT NEWS, 7/12).
  19. Maybe Stalions was just sending friends around the league to take pictures of the other teams' cheerleaders.
  20. Arizona's making it to the World Series shows the Tigers may only be 6 wins shy of being a contender.
  21. Gostishere and Larkin both with 3 points tonight. Through 7 games, that brings Ghost to 3-6-9pts and Larkin to 4-10-14pts. Cat's goal brings him to 9-4-13pts.
  22. Raymond had rang one off of the post 20 seconds before Seattle's winner.
