The Wings are finished the toughest part of the schedule, having played 9 of the past 11 on the road. 9 of their remaining 15 games (including 5 of the next 7) are at home.

Yep, on this side of the border for Windsor, Chatham and Sarnia I bet there has been a shift with the Wings being bad, the Leafs being regular season good, all Leafs games being on tv and no Wings games being on channel 50 anymore.

I was saying to a couple of family members yesterday that much as I was excited about the Olympics tournament and was disappointed when Team Canada lost, I'm realizing again how much more invested I am in the Wings. The Olympics was a 12-day tourney, win or lose we move on to the NHL. We've had 5+ months put in to the Wings as fans this season alone. I'm going to Anaheim at Montreal on Sunday night and was expecting that the Wings would be ahead of the Habs and I would just sit back and enjoy the game and watch the chasing Habs try to catch up to Detroit. Now it's more like the Habs have left the Wings in the dust.

One way to avoid having an abundance of injuries to key players on defense is to not sign many key players on defense.

Wings are 5-7-3 for just 13 points in past 15 games.

Wings at Tampa scoreless after one. That's probably as good as we can expect from an undermanned Wings team. Penalties with 12 seconds to go in a period are usually needless though. Can the Wings stall for another 40 minutes?

Or failing that, I was at the gym this morning with one week to get into game shape in case Todd calls on me when I’m at Habs @ Wings next Thursday.

Now really questionable the Wings will be able to survive this.

What a difference an injury and 90 seconds makes. I remember with 5 minutes to go thinking that, yeah, the Copp injury is going to hurt but if they hang on tonight then suddenly their post-Olympics record will be 4-2-1 with 5 of those 7 game having been on the road, not bad at all. Then, we know what happened …

I can’t remember a year when the disparity between the East and West’s playoff cut line has been so wide. In the East, the 8th and 9th place teams have 78 and 76 points respectively. In the West, the 8th and 9th place teams have 67 points each.

I hate when after a couple days of excitement about a star lineman a failed physical changes everything.

I’ve never been so miserable during a Leafs 8-game losing streak.
