  1. Zadina clears waivers. He will try to make the team. If he can’t, he can be sent down to GR but only if he clears waivers again then.
  2. That’s how I interpret it. But I think Ottawa is likely in weaker position than a week ago. I’d offer them Boston’s #1 next year, period, and hope it is in the high 20s. Don’t need to add a decent player and certainly not a prospect. They can take one of our depth players created by the free agent signing logjam if they wish.
  3. I wasn’t exactly sure what the tweet meant so I listened to the full 2 minutes. Friedman says the Sens and DeBrincat aren’t happy with each other right now. But know they need to grind through to put this behind them. DeBrincat wants to go to Detroit and the thinking is if Ottawa and Detroit can agree on a trade he will sign with the Wings. That’s the hold up right now as Ottawa and Detroit haven’t been aligned but they’re really not that far apart. Not going to get anything out of the Isles and Lamorello. Talks with Anaheim were warming up but seem to have cooled. Vegas May have come and gone.
  4. Didn't work out, in spectacularly bad fashion, but can't say I wasn't cheering hard on draft day. Especially when combined with later picks Veleno, Berggren and McIsaac. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2776599-filip-zadina-picked-6th-by-red-wings-twitter-praises-easy-selection The Detroit Red Wings picked Halifax Mooseheads winger Filip Zadina with the sixth overall selection in the 2018 NHL draft Friday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Let's check out some Twitter reaction about the first-round choice: Zadina enjoyed a terrific debut campaign in the QMJHL. The versatile forward racked up 44 goals and 38 assists for 82 points in 57 games. He added 12 points in nine playoff appearances. North American Central Scouting chief scout Mark Seidel praised Zadina's playmaking skill set during a January interview with Daniel Nugent-Bowman of Sportsnet. "He's dynamic. He can control the game. He shows he can take the puck and dominate at times," Seidel said. "He showed his skating ability (in the 2018 CHL Top Prospects Game). Every night in Halifax he does that, basically. He's going to be an elite scorer. But he also has good vision. Both those things translate well to the NHL." It's hard to know exactly how soon Zadina will be ready to make the NHL jump. His play in the top Czech league showcased the progress he needed to make before becoming a full-time pro, but there's no doubt he's made serious strides during his year with Halifax. The Red Wings will likely bring the winger, who can play on either the left or right side, to training camp and let him play in at least a handful of preseason games. From there, they can decide whether to keep him for a nine-game tryout stint or send him back to the Mooseheads for another year of seasoning. Regardless, he projects as a future top-line forward who could lead Detroit in scoring a couple of times once he becomes established in the NHL. If he does make an immediate jump, he'll be joining an offense that ranked 28th in scoring last season.
  5. I’m a bit disappointed that Yzerman didn’t specifically tell Tater and me by name to chill out.
  6. You build a winner through drafts + signings + trades. Can't just throw up one's hands and say that it's impossible to make a win-win trade. And if you can't make good value signings, why not? Bertuzzi at 1 x $5.5mm is a good value signing but I assume he wasn't interested in signing with the Wings like that as long as we're in purgatory. Make the playoffs and watch the number of players willing to consider the Wings as a destination increase.
  7. I didn't say anything about selling the farm. But to get proven stars like Nylander I'd be willing to put in play a couple of assets like Cossa or Edvinsson or ASP or next year's Boston 1st. Zadina was once an untouchable. We need to break out of this Scrubs 'n Scrubs approach.
  8. Yes, a bold move like Nylander or to a lesser extent DeBrincat is what Yzerman is paid to do. You or I could have signed Justin Holl at 3x$3.5.
  9. Yep, Bertuzzi and Domi are good at offense but neither are particularly tough or physical. The Leafs signed Tyler and Max, not Todd and Tie.
  10. Yes, a win-win for both Toronto and Bertuzzi
  11. 3-run homer for Carpenter! 7-2. Loving this mile high air.
  12. Dan had just been saying on the radio how Hinch aims for multiple runs in extra inning road games.
  13. Interesting on DeBrincat. So maybe it was Debrincat’s demands not Ottawa’s demands that was or is the obstacle to a deal with the Wings https://ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/ottawa-senators/garrioch-ottawa-senators-need-help-from-alex-debrincat-to-complete-a-trade General manager Pierre Dorion confirmed Saturday, the day NHL free agency opened, he had given Jackson permission to talk contract with more than one team in an attempt to facilitate a trade, but those trades fell through because DeBrincat’s camp didn’t like the term they were being offered.
  14. I’m losing track, 7? Reimer Lyon Holl Sprong Compher Christian Gostisbehere EDIT: Kostin yesterday makes 8
  15. https://twitter.com/craigsmorgan/status/1675280388460257280?s=61&t=don8lQTnTq5FKXq14p2GMw Can a team have three 4th lines?
  16. I believe Tomas Tatar is still unsigned, or was as of a few hours ago.
  17. 1-4-1 formation. One goalie, four defensive players, one sniper. Just not sure who the sniper is going to be.
  18. Reimer and Ned signed for identical contracts today so it was like a flip. I’m ok with that but Reimer better be better than he was last year. Which may not happen as he is no spring chicken. Gotta admit, I don’t think I’ve been this bummed about a Wings signing (Holl) since resigning Cleary. I’m reeling, it’s like the bubble has burst on any illusion that Yzerman is playing 3D chess. Holl was SO bad.
  19. This reminds me of the past 2 off seasons of the Tigers. Offseason before last the Tigers went out and made some notable signings like Baez and E-Rod. Team flopped so pulled back this offseason and went cheapo. Wings made some signings last summer like Copp and Perron which gave hope of moving forward. Seemed to be going according to plan until a bad couple of games against Ottawa seems to have freaked out the front office. Sold off two of their best half-dozen players and then went cheapo this offseason, at least so far.
  20. For sure. I could have lived with the Bunting deal although his offensive numbers are inflated by playing on high-scoring Toronto.
