I remember in 2008 when race started to become an issue and Barack Obama made a speech (was it in Philadelphia?) about race and shut that **** down. It was an epic speech - probably his best (up there with the speech at the memorial for the shooting victims in Arizona). I was already on board, but that was the moment when I knew HE'S THE GUY. Then Stoopid Sarah later in the campaign went off about "anybody can make pretty speeches". Hey Sarah - speeches are an absolutely important part of the job. Speeches show clarity and vision (or the opposite). Speeches can calm nerves or rally people around a shared cause or idea. Speeches are one of the most important thing a leader does. When was the last time Trump or Vance or any of those crooked yahoos gave any kind of assuring speech. Even that trustfund silver spoon nepo baby George W. Bush gave a great speech at the site of WTC. I couldn't stand him and never voted for him and think he was totally controlled by Darth Cheney, but he made the moment. He owned it. I don't see that coming from any Republican today (or many Democrats either). Kamala needs to respond to the type of garbage that's going down. Talk about her heritage. Show how it is the TRUE American story and talk about how it gives her opportunities to see things from more angles. She doesn't have to be defined as anything except American. People like Kamala ARE the real Americans. They are the future. The sick **** being thrown around today was one day thrown at the Irish and Italian sides of my family..........and not that long ago. Her moment is beckoning and I hope she sticks the landing like Obama did in March 2008. Throw this garbage right back at 'em. I don't give a flying **** what someone's heritage is. Can they do the ****ing job? Can they be an adult when things don't go their way? Can they defer to the learned experts in their chosen field when it's time to make crisis decisions. One thing I know for sure. Kamala Harris doesn't think she knows more about hurricanes than those who have dedicated their lives to the study of hurricanes. My mom called me the day Biden dropped out (I was busy and hadn't heard the news yet) and she was crestfallen and I told her NO, this will absolutely energize the Democrats. They've been waiting to get behind someone younger. I'm not as dumb as you think. . Oh, I'm dumb, but I get a few things right. Joe did a good job in his term, but the debate and the labored physical movements were clear signs that he needed to step aside. By going with his VP you can keep those policies in place. I think Kelly is a good spokesperson on a few issues - one of them being the border - he can describe why there isn't some magic trick to fix everything and that the Republicans have routinely rejected bills that could help (because they need this to stay a crisis). Propose what Reagan did, about getting those folks into the system so they can earn citizenship (and pay taxes too), you know, that crazy liberal Reagan! Also, it's pretty hard to attack Kelly (who is a 2nd amendment supporter) on reasonable gun issues. They still will attack him on it, but Americans in the Center are absolutely in favor of at least trying some sensible gun laws. Free Speech isn't absolute, neither should the 2nd Amendment. There are people that have no business legally owning a fire arm of any kind and everyone knows it. That kid in Arizona was one of them. Dude was crazy and people were afraid of him. He should never have been able to legally get a gun.
